Federal Government Signs Decree That Revolutionizes Drivers’ Lives at Detran in Rio de Janeiro, Eliminating the Need for Notaries for Vehicle Transfers.
From now on, drivers in Rio de Janeiro can say goodbye to notaries when transferring ownership of their vehicles. With a decree from the federal government and Detran of RJ, the process, which was previously bureaucratic and time-consuming, can now be done entirely online, quickly and securely. This change promises to make life easier for drivers, who have been able to take advantage of the new measure since May 3, 2022.
The Detran of RJ introduced the possibility of transferring vehicles directly through the Digital Traffic Wallet (CDT) app. This tool is available for those who purchased cars from January 4, 2021, and already have the digital document. The process is simple: the seller enters the app, provides the buyer’s CPF number, and digitally signs. The buyer receives a notification and also signs within the app, completing the transfer without needing to leave home.
Detran of RJ Wants to Improve Service for Drivers
Adolfo Konder, president of the Detran of RJ, highlighted that this measure is part of the ongoing effort by the agency to improve service for drivers. ““Now, the authorization for transferring between individuals can be done 100% digitally. Detran/RJ’s adoption of the Digital Traffic Wallet tool is part of our goal to improve the quality of service provided to citizens“”, he stated.
