In 2024, Germany Will Open More Than 36 Thousand Job Positions, and the Good News Is That There Is a High Demand for Professionals. Thus, Brazilians Have the Opportunity to Compete for Jobs in the IT Field in This European Country.

Germany is the economic engine of Europe; therefore, news related to the German market is of great interest, especially when it comes to job opportunities in the country. Thus, the year 2024 begins with the promising news that at least 36 thousand jobs in the IT sector are expected to be created in Germany this year.

28 Thousand IT Jobs Were Created in Germany in 2023

The digital economy of Germany is on an expansion trajectory. However, even with a challenging economic environment, the digital association Bitkom estimates that IT and telecommunications (ITK) companies will see a sales increase of 4.4% to 224.3 billion euros in 2024, meaning the Information and Communication Technology sector is expected to grow three to four times faster than the economy as a whole. Indeed, in 2023, sales in ICT increased by 2% to 215 billion euros.

Thus, the growth in sales also has a positive impact on the job market. Bitkom expects the number of employees in this industry to grow by 36 thousand over the course of 2024, reaching 1.368 million.

In total, 28 thousand new jobs in Germany were created in the IT sector in 2023. A large part of the companies in the Bitkom industry is crisis-proof. Even in difficult economic conditions marked by geopolitical crises and budget cuts, sales and employment are on the rise.

In particular, employment growth could be significantly higher, as the lack of skilled workers is proving to be an obstacle there. According to Dr. Ralf Wintergerst, president of Bitkom, digitization is the answer to today’s challenges in the economy, society, and state. His resolution for 2024 should be greater determination in digitization and more freedom for innovation.

Information Technology (IT) is the most important growth engine. After a slight slowdown in growth last year, up 2.2% to 142.9 billion euros, current forecasts suggest that sales should reach 151.5 billion euros in 2024, representing an increase of 6.1%. Thus, the software business, in particular, is growing strongly, reaching 9.4% to 45.5 billion euros.

However, sales from development, testing, and software supply platforms also grew above average, by 12.3% to 12.2 billion euros. The current boom in artificial intelligence is also reflected here.

The business with AI platforms is expanding by 38.3% to 1.4 billion euros. Wintergerst states that artificial intelligence will continue to be the main theme of 2024. Companies must now deal with AI, create corresponding projects, and also invest in technology.
