More Than 500 New Job Openings Are Available at the Newly Inaugurated BYD Factory in Camaçari, Bahia, Promising to Move the Automotive Sector and Impact the Local Economy with Focus on Electrified Vehicles.

The Chinese vehicle manufacturer BYD initiated, in July 2025, a selection process to fill 508 job openings at its new industrial unit in Camaçari, in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador, Bahia.

This action occurs days after the inauguration of the factory, considered strategic for both BYD’s expansion in Brazil and the advancement of the national automotive sector towards electrification.

BYD Selection Process: Registrations and Required Documents

The job opportunities offered by BYD are intermediated by SineBahia (National Employment System of Bahia), responsible for coordinating the recruitment freely and in an organized manner.

Those interested in applying for the positions must visit a SineBahia unit in person, where tickets are distributed according to availability, always on a first-come, first-served basis.

To finalize the application, it is mandatory to present documents such as work card (physical or digital), RG (General Registry), CPF (Individual Taxpayer Registry), updated proof of residence, education certificate, and proof of vaccination against Covid-19.

In addition, there may be a requirement for additional documents, depending on the desired position.

BYD Job Openings: Areas and Specialties

According to official information, the job openings are distributed across 25 distinct areas of activity.

Among the most demanded positions are production operators, logistics operators, welders, and forklift operators.

This variety of positions ranges from operational roles to technical functions, reflecting the breadth of the company’s automotive production line.

BYD Factory in Camaçari: Economic Impact and Innovation

The new BYD factory in Camaçari occupies the facilities where the Ford industrial complex operated before its closure in 2021.

The arrival of the Chinese automaker represents a reconfiguration of the industrial landscape in Bahia, contributing to job creation and the resumption of economic dynamism in the region.

According to BYD, the investment made in this plant aims not only to manufacture passenger cars but also to consolidate Brazil as a reference hub in the production of electrified vehicles, even though most of the parts are still imported.

Production Capacity and Expansion

The factory project was developed in stages, and the company estimates that, in the initial phase of operations, the production capacity will reach 150,000 vehicles per year.

With planned expansion in the coming years, the expectation is that this volume will double, reaching up to 300,000 units annually.

The industrial complex includes modern assembly lines, automated logistics sectors, and areas focused on research and development of new automotive technologies.

BYD Job Opportunities: Projections and Qualification

BYD (Build Your Dreams) is currently the largest manufacturer of electric vehicles in the world and sees the Brazilian market as one of the main destinations for its investments outside Asia.

The enterprise in Camaçari has been presented as the largest for the company outside the Asian continent, reinforcing Brazil’s strategic importance for the corporation.

According to data from the National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea), the electrified vehicle sector continues to grow rapidly in the country, with an increase of over 50% in sales compared to the previous year.

It is estimated that the total structure of the BYD project may generate up to 20,000 direct and indirect jobs in the coming years, including not only positions on the assembly line but also opportunities in supporting sectors, local suppliers, and regional logistics.

The presence of the company in Camaçari may also boost partnerships with technical education institutions and universities, enhancing the qualification of the local workforce and promoting technological innovation.

Recovery of the Industrial Hub and New Expectations

According to the government of the State of Bahia, the installation of BYD marks a new chapter in the history of the region’s industrial park.

Since Ford’s closure, the site had been facing challenges related to a decline in job generation and negative socioeconomic impacts.

The arrival of the new factory rekindles expectations for the growth of the Bahian economy and for the appreciation of the national automotive sector.

How to Apply for BYD Job Openings

Those interested in the BYD job openings must pay attention to the guidelines provided by SineBahia and the documentation required for each specialty.

The selection will take place over the next few weeks, according to the schedule set by the company and the job intermediation agency.

The expectation is that the filling of vacancies will contribute to reducing unemployment in the region and strengthening the national electrified vehicle industry.

How do you assess the impact of BYD’s installation on the local economy and the future of sustainable mobility in Brazil?
