Used JAC Car for Under R$ 25 Thousand? Discover the JAC J3 Turin, the Hatch Famous for Being Faustão’s Car, and Find Out If It’s Still Worth It in 2025!
Launched in the second half of 2011, the JAC J3 TURIN marked the heavy arrival of Chinese brands in the Brazilian market. Until that moment, the presence of manufacturers was timid, and the quality of the models was questionable. The JAC car is now making a big splash on vehicle sales platforms.
A Bit of the History of the JAC J3 TURIN
JAC Motors was the bet of businessman Sergio Habib, who had already succeeded with the representation of Citroën. Good with arguments, Habib asserted that the brand was one of the best bets among the Chinese. However, to sell the JAC car, he knew that it wasn’t enough to just have a good talk. A strong name was necessary.
Thus, Habib hired none other than Fausto Silva. It didn’t take long for the JAC car to become the “Faustão’s Car“.

The host of Domingão do Faustão was one of the most popular figures on television. He was present at the car’s presentation in the interior of São Paulo. Thus, the JAC J3 TURIN hit the market in the second half of 2011.
The compact hatch was offered with two body options, namely hatchback and sedan. Both the hatch and the sedan were equipped with a 1.4 engine with 108 horsepower and 14.1 kgfm of torque, combined with a five-speed manual transmission. With a length of 3.97 m and a wheelbase of 2.40 m, the JAC car had measurements similar to its direct rivals, such as the VW Gol, Fiat Palio, and Renault Sandero.
What Is the Best Version of the JAC J3 TURIN to Buy?
The version that is attracting the most attention in the Brazilian market is the JAC J3 Turin S 1.5 JET 2014, which arrived with a redesigned body by the brand.
Also used by the J5, the engine was calibrated in collaboration between engineers from JAC Motors and Delphi, both in China and Brazil. The result of this partnership was the elimination of an inconvenience: the gasoline tank for cold starts.
The 1.5-liter engine in the JAC car has a maximum power of 125 hp on gasoline and 127 hp on ethanol, both at 6,000 RPM.
In terms of torque, it delivers 15.5 kgfm (gasoline) and 15.7 kgfm (ethanol) at 4,000 RPM. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in under 10 seconds; however, the brand did not disclose the precise number. The top speed is close to 200 km/h.
The performance of the JAC J3 Turin shocked Anfavea, which went to the government and demanded protective measures. The response came in January 2012 with the Inovar-Auto program, which granted incentives to brands established or intending to establish themselves in the country.
Owner Feedback on the JAC J3 Turin
According to some testimonials from JAC car owners, their main highlights are that it is comfortable, spacious, complete, quiet, and beautiful.
Everything a car needs, and at an affordable price. Unlike cars in its category that deliver less than half of what it offers and charge double the price just for boasting the brand name.
But as everything is not perfect, there are some flaws in the model. The engine mount tends to have issues, especially if it’s not original. However, this is the only chronic defect; the others are just related to use, such as brake replacement, clutch, and a half-shaft.
