Case followed in Goiânia shows how a 2020/2021 Renault Kwid, with 127 thousand kilometers, went from persistent failures, injection light on, and previous repair attempts to a complete engine replacement that cost R$ 16,420.

R$ 16,420 was the final cost of corrective maintenance for a 2020/2021 Renault Kwid with 127 thousand kilometers, a case where carbon fiber weighed nothing against severe engine failures.

In the record of the Canal Carros with Tiago, the car arrived at the workshop with irregular operation, difficulty starting, injection light on, and a history of visits to other repairers, after changing the probe and fuel pump.

Diagnosis exposed problem beyond the replaced parts

The disassembly showed that the defect was in the engine assembly, not just the peripheral components. The cylinder head was part of the initial investigation, but the opening revealed a broader scenario of wear, dirt, and compromised maintenance.

During the process, the intake manifold, exhaust, catalytic converter, thermostat valve, valve cover, oil pump, cylinder head, and oil pan were removed. The 1.0 three-cylinder engine was taken out of the bay for detailed evaluation.

The manifold showed carbonization. The exhaust had already been replaced and received additional sealing. The catalytic converter was mentioned as an expensive part: about R$ 2,000 genuine or R$ 1,000 in a top-line version.

Carbon fiber does not solve lack of basic maintenance

The opening of the valve cover revealed dark sludge in the engine. The evaluation associated the internal state with overdue oil changes, incorrect lubricant use, or idle periods, although the case shown involved high mileage.

The oil pump strainer was quite clogged. In the oil pan, the amount of sludge was notable. Corrosion in the cylinder was also indicated, leading to the conclusion that reboring would not be worthwhile.

The absence of the thermostat valve and the use of glue on components reinforced that the car had already undergone previous interventions. In this context, the replacement of isolated parts was not enough to restore regular operation.

New engine raised the Kwid’s bill

The customer bought a new engine at the dealership for R$ 11,500. The assembly came with valves, spark plugs, knock sensor, oil sensor, water pump, flywheel, thermostat valve bracket, and oil filter.

The new clutch, original mount, correctly specified oil, additive, original probe, throttle body cleaning, additional parts, and labor completed the service. The workshop reported an additional R$ 4,920, bringing the total bill to R$ 16,420.
