The Association Declared That Distributors Received 23 Proposals From National and International Companies Interested in Pipeline Gas From the Northeast
Abegás (Brazilian Association of Pipeline Gas Distributors) announced last Tuesday (04/16) that the distributors in the Northeast received twenty-three proposals for a bidding process to acquire and distribute gas from the region.
The proposals were made by nine companies, including national and international groups, and are part of a tender opened by the Association last year aimed at diversifying the sources of natural gas supply, which today belongs to Petrobras.
Earlier this month, the government had already approved the resolution that establishes the Competition Committee of the Natural Gas Market in Brazil, with the aim of seeking more competitive prices and ensuring free access to the existing network of pipelines in the country, which has a 60% idle capacity, according to the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

The participating distributors in the Northeast are Algás (Alagoas), Bahiagás (Bahia), Cegás (Ceará), PBgás (Paraíba), Copergás (Pernambuco), Potigás (Rio Grande do Norte), and Sergás (Sergipe).
Each Concessionaire will receive the respective proposals for compliance verification with their bid, which contemplated a volume of 9.4 million cubic meters of natural gas daily.
High Interest Also in the South Region
With a potential volume of 9.9 million cubic meters of natural gas daily, the Central-South region of the country has also attracted the interest of companies to distribute natural gas.
In a recent public call that had a proposal submission deadline of March twenty-nine, fifty-one offers were received from 15 different companies, including six global players, three traders, three from synthesis/renewable gas, and three from small-scale liquefied natural gas.
