Embraer Announces End of Home Office, Ignores Unions, and Upsets Workers! The Decision Affects Thousands of Employees, Who Now Demand Negotiation.
Embraer announced this week the end of home office for administrative and engineering workers. The unilateral decision has outraged employees.
According to the Metalworkers’ Union of São José dos Campos, the entity has therefore called for a meeting this Thursday (13) at the main entrance of the Faria Lima unit.
Since the beginning of the year, there have been rumors that Embraer would announce a return to 100% in-person work.

Driverless bus, promised as the future of transport in the UK, has been cancelled after low demand, still required human staff on board, and has become a symbol of an innovation that almost no one wanted to use.
In February, the Union sent an urgent request for a meeting to discuss the matter with the company. But the request was ignored.
In an internal statement, Embraer stated that the measure applies to all companies in the group.
In Brazil, the return should occur on August 4.
With this arbitrary decision, Embraer claims it will stop paying the cost assistance related to home office.
Furthermore, it will also suspend meal vouchers for employees in units that have dining facilities. About 5,000 employees will be affected in São José dos Campos and surrounding areas.
This abrupt change affects the daily lives of workers. In addition, it directly impacts the routines of their families.
Many were hired under home office or hybrid arrangements and live far from Embraer’s plants.
“Embraer disrespects workers and the Union, by announcing the return to in-person work unilaterally and inflexibly.
We demand that, at a minimum, the company maintain the hybrid work model and engage in negotiations with the unions.
For this reason, we call on all administrative workers to attend the assembly this Thursday,” said the director of the Metalworkers’ Union, Herbert Claros.
The administrative and engineering teams at Embraer have been working from home since March 11, 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic was declared.

Embraer Workers Reject End of Home Office and Demand Negotiation
Administrative workers at Embraer rejected the end of the home office, announced by the company.
Furthermore, they demanded that there be negotiations on the issue with the unions that represent them.
The vote took place in an assembly organized by the Metalworkers’ Union of São José dos Campos and Region.
At the event this Thursday, employees from administrative and engineering roles also requested that any changes proposed by Embraer be implemented only in 2026.
“The end of home office represents many losses for workers and their families. Numerous people were hired under home office arrangements and live far from Embraer’s plants,” said the director of the Metalworkers’ Union, Herbert Claros.
According to him, the company made the announcement arbitrarily, without negotiation, and did not provide support to the employees. “For this reason, our Union is organizing this fight and inviting other unions to mobilize,” the director stated.
On the 27th, Embraer released its 2024 results. The company achieved the highest revenue in its history: R$ 35.4 billion.
This amount represents a 36% increase compared to 2023 (R$ 26.1 billion). A total of 206 aircraft were delivered, 14% more than the previous year (181).
“In recent years, Embraer has generated profits. Home office was one of the contributors to this positive result for the company. Therefore, nothing justifies this abrupt change,” concluded Herbert.
What Embraer Says
In a note sent to the CPG portal, Embraer claims to believe that the initiative to return to an in-person model contributes to “strengthening the bond between teams through shared experiences, collaboration on projects.”
“Considering the company’s growth period, Embraer has decided to return to more days per week of in-person work, while maintaining flexibility for one day per week of remote work. To give employees time to adapt and to adjust the infrastructure of the units for greater flow of people, the change will only occur at the beginning of August in Brazil,” the company stated.
