How to check the 2026 IRPF refund
To verify if the refund has been released, the taxpayer must access the My Income Tax area on the Federal Revenue Service portal. Then, they should select the option Check the Refund.
Additionally, it is also possible to track the status of the declaration through the processing statement available on e-CAC.
If any issues are identified, the declaration can be amended to correct the information.
Similarly, the Federal Revenue Service provides an app for tablets and smartphones. Thus, the taxpayer can check information about refunds and CPF registration status.
What to do in case of errors in bank details
According to an official note from the Federal Revenue Service, payments are made only to bank accounts owned by the taxpayer.
Therefore, when there is an error in the information provided or a problem with the indicated account, the credit is not processed.
However, to avoid losses, the taxpayer can request rescheduling with Banco do Brasil within up to one year after the first payment attempt.
In this case, it will be necessary to provide the refund amount and the declaration receipt number.
How to check if the declaration has been flagged
In addition to checking the refund, the taxpayer can also verify the existence of issues with the declaration.
To do this, they should access the Virtual Taxpayer Service Center (e-CAC) using a gov.br account at silver or gold levels.
Subsequently, they should access Declarations and Statements, select My Income Tax, and check the 2026 declaration.
The Federal Revenue Service will inform if:
- The declaration was processed normally;
- There are issues that resulted in retention in the fine mesh.
If there is any discrepancy, the Revenue Service will indicate the reason for the retention and the necessary procedures for regularization.
If the error was made by the taxpayer themselves, a corrective declaration should be submitted. After that, the declaration may be released from the fine mesh.
On the other hand, when the inconsistency is related to the paying source or third parties, it will be necessary to wait for the responsible party to correct the information.
