Labor Shortage in Portugal Turned into Golden Opportunity for Brazilians. Salaries in Euros, Job Openings with Online Selection Process. Discover How to Secure Your Position.

Working in Portugal has always seemed like a distant dream for many Brazilians, but that reality has changed. The lack of labor in essential roles, such as drivers, security guards, and activities related to private security, has opened a huge door for those seeking stable employment in Europe.

Multinational companies are in a hurry to hire, salaries are paid in euros, and for the first time, the path is simpler as long as the candidate knows exactly how the process works.

Why Did Portugal Become the Preferred Destination for So Many Brazilians?

The migratory movement of Brazilians to Portugal continues to increase, and it’s not by chance. The country offers quality of life, safety, and a very quick cultural adaptation.

Recent reports published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) show that the Brazilian community continues to be the largest foreign resident population in the country.

Moreover, international rankings place Portugal among the safest places in the world, as highlighted by the Global Peace Index in its annual report.

All this stability combines with a growing demand for professionals in technical and operational areas, attracting companies that urgently need to replace qualified labor.

Multinationals Are Offering Job Openings and Brazilians Can Apply.

The labor shortage of Portuguese workers in roles linked to private security has opened space for global companies like Prosegur and Securitas to recruit Brazilians and professionals from other countries.

According to public information from the companies themselves, both are expanding their selection processes in various regions of the country to fill essential positions, many of them on a permanent basis.

Where Are the Job Openings Available by Securitas?

Securitas is hiring security guards in different modalities. The main functions are:

• Property surveillance
• Mobile surveillance
• Airport surveillance and more!

The openings are spread across strategic regions: Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Sintra, Coimbra, Azores, and Madeira Island.

In a recent interview with the Portuguese newspaper Público, a company spokesperson stated: “The shortage of professionals in this sector requires immediate reinforcement. Brazilians with the right qualifications are extremely welcome.”

Prosegur Is Also Expanding Hirings in Critical Areas of the Country

Prosegur has opportunities for those who wish to work in:

• Property surveillance
• Banking surveillance
• Airport surveillance
• Alarm center and more!

The regions with urgent hiring include: Greater Lisbon, Porto, Algarve, and Setúbal.

According to data released by the company, the demand has increased mainly due to the growth of tourism and commercial ventures.

What Do Brazilians Need to Secure One of These Positions?

Despite the large volume of job offers, Portugal requires specific qualifications to work as a security guard.

The first step is to obtain a professional security guard card, issued by the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI). All official rules can be consulted directly on the Portuguese Government’s website: ▶ https://www.sg.mai.gov.pt

To obtain the document, it is mandatory to complete a training course in private security at institutions recognized by the MAI.

Additionally, the candidate must meet some important prerequisites:

– Complete elementary education
– Physical and psychological evaluation
– Certificate of good conduct
– Availability to work in shifts
– Good command of the Portuguese language
– In airport areas, intermediate knowledge of English

Training courses can be found on the IEFP (Institute for Employment and Professional Training) portal: ▶ https://iefponline.iefp.pt

How Much Does a Security Guard or Driver Earn in Portugal?

The salary is one of the biggest reasons that leads so many Brazilians to try to secure a position.
The official amounts disclosed by the companies show stable compensation that is higher than the average in many equivalent fields in Brazil.

• Property guard: 912.53 euros (+ 155.10 € for meals)
• Airport guard: 1,022.13 euros (+ 155.10 € for meals + 46.78 € for transportation)

Additionally, many companies offer:

• Medical assistance
• Continuous training courses
• Support for issuing the professional card
• Internal discounts and corporate benefits

A recent report from the specialized portal Público Emprego indicates that wages in the private security sector have increased above inflation in Portugal.

Why Do So Many Brazilians Choose to Work in the Security Sector in Portugal?

Positions for security guards, drivers, guards, or firefighters are continuously in demand due to the growth of tourism and commerce. Portugal is experiencing a moment of structural expansion, with airports, hospitals, hotels, shopping centers, and events needing to reinforce their private security teams.

Moreover, the country is known for:

• Pleasant climate
• Reliable infrastructure
• More balanced cost of living than other Western European countries
• Internationally recognized public safety
• Economic and social stability

For many Brazilians, this means a real opportunity to build a new life with more tranquility and prospects for growth.

How to Participate in the Selection Processes?

Portuguese recruiters state that Brazilian candidates using the Europass format have a better chance of advancing through the stages.

An important tip: use the Europass resume, a standard accepted throughout Europe. The template can be created for free here.

The application is entirely online. Interested candidates who meet the requirements for the job openings offered by the multinationals should send their resumes directly to the official portals:

• Securitas Portugal
• Prosegur Portugal
