An explorer spent three days in the dense jungle to locate Pablo Escobar's lost plane. What he found in the middle of nowhere left everyone intrigued. Could this discovery reveal more secrets about the notorious drug lord's empire?
What was supposed to be a search for the story of Pablo Escobar and his alleged smuggling plane ended up becoming a journey worthy of an adventure film. Mike Corey, explorer and creator of the channel Fearless & Far on YouTube, decided to face the dense Mexican jungle in search of a mysterious plane that, according to rumors, belonged to the cartel of the famous Colombian drug trafficker.
The expedition began in the Yucatan Peninsula, a region famous for its dense forests, treacherous mangroves and biodiversity that includes venomous snakes and other natural hazards.
History of the Airplane
In 1966, a cargo plane crashed near the town of Celestún, carrying a shipment whose nature was never confirmed. The mystery only deepened when the wreckage was discovered 13 years later, with no sign of the cargo or crew.

Over the years, stories have emerged linking the plane to Escobar, but no definitive proof was found. Determined to unravel this enigma, Mike's team set out to explore the site.
In the first few hours of the hike, the danger became real. In a section full of bushes, Mike came across a snake, a scene that set the tone for the trip. It's scary... a real web of thorns and hooks“, he reported in the video. Despite this, the team moved forward.
After three days of braving steep, wet terrain, they finally reached the wreckage. The plane was partially buried in the mangroves, its body eroded by time and nature. That's it! We found it!“, Mike exclaimed. The discovery brought to light details that further fueled the mystery.
The interior of the aircraft was nearly empty, but the pilot's seat, steering wheel and some windows were still intact.
One detail caught attention: bullet holes covered the top of the plane, as if an aerial chase had taken place before the crash.
Near one of the wings, rusty barrels were found. Mike and his team speculated that they might have been carrying drugs, but there was no concrete evidence at the scene.
"“What happened here is a mystery,” Mike said. “Maybe they were shot down. Maybe something in the engine failed. What seems certain is that if they survived, they didn’t make it out of the forest."
Pablo Escobar, the name that fuels the legends about the plane, died in 1993, at the age of 44, during a confrontation with the Colombian police. Despite this, his story still inspires investigations, theories and adventures like that of Mike Corey.
The journey did not bring definitive answers, but it reinforced the enigma surrounding the plane lost in the Mexican jungle. For Mike, the biggest mystery remains: what really happened to that aircraft and its crew? The story continues without a conclusion.
