A milestone in automotive history was recently established. Imagine an electric car so fast that it leaves even Formula 1 vehicles behind in terms of acceleration. We present the Mythen WR, a small single-seater that achieved the impressive feat of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in less than one second.

How the Mythen WR Surpassed Formula 1 Vehicles in Acceleration

This electric car, a creation of the AMZ Racing team, now holds the title of the fastest car in the world in acceleration, surpassing even current Formula 1 vehicles. With a recorded acceleration time of 0.956 seconds, it is an optimized version of the 2019 Formula Student car, a European equivalent of Formula SAE.

The fastest car in the world is powered by four electric motors that distribute a total of 322 horsepower, one at each wheel, for phenomenal acceleration.

This electric car was built by students from ETH Zurich and the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Switzerland. Driven by pilot Kate Maggetti, the vehicle was officially recognized by the Guinness World Records, breaking the previous record of 1.461 seconds set by students from the University of Stuttgart in Germany.

This academic project not only challenges conventional notions about electric cars but also highlights the vital role that educational institutions can play in innovation.

While the Mythen WR is a monumental achievement, it is important to note that it still lags behind Top Fuel dragsters in terms of acceleration, which reach 100 km/h in less than 0.5 seconds with a load of 5g.

However, while these dragsters are immense beasts, the Mythen WR is a small single-seater that stands as a testament to the untapped potential of electric cars.

The Mythen WR is more than just a fast car; it is a shining example of human ingenuity and the promising future of electric cars. This milestone is a significant step for the automotive industry, demonstrating how far electric technology has come and how far it still has to go.
