Many Multinational Oil Companies Acquired Oil Assets in Recent Auctions in 2017 and More Will Be Acquired Starting in 2018. A Course in English with at Least Partial Proficiency Will Be Determinant for Your Insertion in This Market

An English course now more than ever will be an important factor in the selection processes of multinational oil companies. Many pre-salt and post-salt assets in Brazil have been acquired in recent years by large global companies that operate practically all over the planet, even though many of them have operations in our territory. If you look closely at their official websites, the terms and selection processes are all in English.

At Petrobras, there is now no longer an obligation to explore the entire portfolio of assets we have in our lands, especially in the oceans; this opens up an unprecedented range of opportunities for the fossil fuel industry in Brazil. That’s where it gets tricky! It doesn’t matter if it’s here in Brazil, in China, Russia, or anywhere else, English is a global exchange dialect; all countries have their language, but all languages communicate in English. The financial market, tourism, international media, all of this goes through the language of Uncle Sam, and the oil and gas sector is no different.

Right now, companies like ExxonMobil, Shell, Total, Statoil, CNPC and others operating in this mode are in motion, acquiring licenses and conducting new seismic surveys to discover more oil sources, all due to the success of the recent oil auctions and the relaxation of local content regulations, which allowed for more foreign companies to enter exploration and production. Everything is already being done so that starting in 2019, campaigns and all economic activities involving the sector gain more momentum, consequently, more opportunities.

There are numerous institutions, whether physical or online platforms, that offer English courses, and surprisingly, many have free access. For those with limited money or transportation difficulties who want to learn or improve their language skills, YouTube is a great source of content, sometimes even better than a teacher in person. In addition, there are software and apps that assist in learning. So, go for it because there is still time to improve and increase your chances of entering this segment that is oil and gas.
