Regulatory Standards Review Continues, Now It’s Time for NRs 7, 9, and 17 to Start Receiving Suggestions
The Official Gazette published on the last day 30/08, the start of the revision process of the Regulatory Standards (NRs) 7 (Occupational Health Medical Control Program – PCMSO), 9 (Environmental Risk Prevention Program – PPRA) and 17 (Ergonomics).
After the federal government announced in early August the revision of regulatory standards 1 and 12 and the revocation of regulatory standard 2, it is now time to start the public consultation on the proposed revision of Standards 7, 9, and 17, as well as the proposed text for the Risk Management Program.
The process was announced by the Ministry of Economy, through the Special Secretariat for Social Security and Labor, and the consultation of the texts can be done by clicking here and suggestions can be submitted at this same link until September 28, 2019.

Once this deadline is over, the Labor Secretariat will analyze the suggestions, which will be reviewed by the Labor Secretariat, the body responsible for preparing the text proposal to be submitted to a tripartite group, formed by representatives from the government, workers, and employers, for discussion and approval.
The final stage will be the submission, by the Tripartite group, of the final text to be discussed and approved within the framework of the Permanent Tripartite Parity Commission – CTPP.
Campaign Promise
The change in the standards is a campaign promise of the current president Jair Bolsonaro. The goal is to reduce bureaucracy and encourage entrepreneurship, and the federal government estimates a savings of R$ 43 billion for companies over the next 10 years.
