The high volume of rainfall exposed vulnerabilities in the city’s infrastructure. Several regions faced severe flooding, in addition to the overflowing of retention ponds and critical failures in the drainage system. As a consequence, residents faced significant disruptions, including mobility difficulties, health risks, and material damages.

Armed Forces take action with rescue operations and logistical support

Given the severity of the situation, the support of the Armed Forces was considered essential to expand the municipality’s response capacity. The Brazilian Army is expected to act on different fronts, including draining retention ponds, providing logistical support, humanitarian assistance, and rescue operations in hard-to-reach areas.

In this sense, the military presence emerges as a strategic reinforcement to accelerate assistance to the affected communities. Furthermore, the integrated action between municipal and federal agencies aims to ensure greater efficiency in emergency actions.
