Bi-Fuel Hybrid SUV Promises a Range of 1,500 Km, Dual-Clutch Transmission, and Unprecedented 4×4 Traction, Combining Turbo Engine with 48 V Electric System and New Driving Modes in Two Different Body Styles.
The European Duster debuts a unique bi-fuel hybrid configuration, capable of covering up to 1,500 km per refueling and reducing costs by up to 30% compared to gasoline-only versions, according to the manufacturer.
Named Hybrid-G 150 4×4, the solution combines a 1.2 turbo three-cylinder engine with a 48 V electric system, 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifters, and all-wheel drive powered by an electric motor on the rear axle.
The setup will be available on the Duster and Bigster in Europe in 2025.

New Hybrid Powertrain with 1.2 Turbo Engine
The thermal base is a 1.2 turbo three-cylinder engine, supported by a light hybrid system of 48 V.
At the rear, there is a dedicated electric motor, coupled to a two-speed gearbox with a disengagement function for the axle to reduce consumption when rear traction is not necessary.

In urban use, the brand claims electric operation for up to 60% of the time.
The battery has 0.84 kWh and is recharged by regeneration during deceleration.
The transmission is now DCT with 6 speeds and, for the first time in a Dacia, offers manual shifts via paddle shifters.
This choice aims for faster responses and better efficiency on the road.
Extended Range with Bi-Fuel System
The Hybrid-G 150 4×4 uses two 50-liter tanks, one for gasoline and another for LPG.
This guarantees the declared range of up to 1,500 km on the WLTP cycle.
The bivalent strategy allows for fuel switching based on price and availability.
It supports the promise of up to 30% savings in cost per kilometer compared to gasoline-only versions.
4×4 Traction and Available Driving Modes
The all-wheel drive system is activated by the rear electric motor and managed by a terrain selector.
There are five modes available: Auto, Eco, Snow, Mud/Sand, and Off-road.
The Duster also offers hill descent control for steep sections, preserving the model’s off-road capability.
Debuting in Two SUVs: Duster and Bigster

The new hybrid and bivalent solution debuts simultaneously on the Duster and the Bigster, Dacia/Renault’s larger SUV for Europe.
According to the brand, the rear electric architecture and DCT were developed to serve both models on the CMF-B platform.
Essential Technical Numbers of the Hybrid-G 150 4×4
In addition to the 0.84 kWh battery, the electric system operates at 48 V and assists with starts, low-speed maneuvers, and urban sections with greater regeneration frequency.
In practice, the rear motor of 31 hp provides instant support during launches and, when needed, traction to all wheels.
When not necessary, it disengages to cut mechanical losses and favor consumption.
Visual Updates and New Finishes
The third generation of the Duster, presented in Europe in November 2023, features a more angular design, updated interior, and new electronics to comply with current safety standards on the continent.
The lineup adopts Essential, Expression, Journey, and Extreme trim levels, with progressively more complete comfort and visual content in the higher versions.
Situation of the Duster in Brazil
While the European Duster advances in electrification, Brazil remains with the second generation, which received a slight update in January 2024 and entered the 2026 lineup with changes to the engines.
The 1.3 TCe turbo-flex has been recalibrated to 163 hp with ethanol and 25.5 kgfm.
The 1.6 SCe aspirated stands at 112 hp (ethanol) and 109 hp (gasoline), with minor adjustments to certified consumption.
The arrival of the third generation Duster in the country remains unofficially confirmed.
Specialized reports indicate that Renault is considering replacing the national Duster with a new SUV based on the CMF-B platform — a project associated with the name Boreal — with regional production and a launch expected in the second half of the decade.
Although the brand does not detail timelines, recent sightings show development units circulating in Brazil.
This reinforces the strategy to expand the local portfolio with products on the CMF-B platform already used by Kardian and future derivatives.
What to Expect for the Brazilian Consumer
For those following the Duster, the European novelty signals a focus on low cost per kilometer, extended range, and all-wheel drive with simplified, easily maintainable components.
In Brazil, the immediate scenario remains centered on the current family with the 1.3 turbo-flex and the advancement of a new national SUV.
If the Hybrid-G 150 4×4 solution is confirmed here in the future, the promise of traveling long distances with gasoline and LPG in a single dual tank should be the main technical attraction.
Would you like to see a bi-fuel hybrid SUV like the Hybrid-G 150 4×4 in the Brazilian market, even if the new generation of the Duster is not produced locally in the short term?
