New Volkswagen Mini SUV Promises to Arrive in Brazil in 2025 and Be Manufactured in Taubaté (SP): With 128 hp Engine, This Compact SUV Aims to End the Reign of the Fiat Pulse and Renault Kardian
Goodbye Volkswagen Gol, new mini SUV from Volkswagen was spotted during tests in India. With anticipated launch in Brazil in 2025 at a competitive price, this new compact SUV from the German automaker will not be named Gol, and will compete directly with the Fiat Pulse and the Renault Kardian.
This vehicle could mark the entry of a new Volkswagen SUV in the Brazilian market. During testing in India, where it will be launched under the Skoda brand, one of the 16 innovations that the German automaker plans to introduce in Brazil by 2028 was observed. This new SUV is smaller than the Nivus and T-Cross and could be the commercial version of the Yeh concept.
New Volkswagen Car Will Be Similar to Fiat Pulse
Photos revealed by Autocar India show the still heavily disguised compact SUV, although its final structure has already been defined. Through the design of the windows and the size of the vehicle, it is suggested that it will be similar to the “Fiat Pulse” of the Skoda Fabia that is sold in Europe.

New VW Compact SUV Comes with 128 hp and Dimensions Similar to the Polo
With dimensions similar to the Polo, the SUV will present a unique design for the Brazilian market, maintaining the Volkswagen brand. However, components like the hood, windows, and doors will be common between the two versions. In India, it will be built on the MQB-A00 modular platform, a simplified variant of the MQB-A0 used in the Polo.
In Brazil, the platform should be the same as the best-selling hatchback. More details about the project are still under development in collaboration between Skoda in India and Volkswagen in Brazil. The Brazilian version of the SUV should include the current 1.0 TSI engines, which offer 116 hp or 128 hp, depending on the configuration, and already include mild hybrid technology.
The vehicle is also expected to feature options for a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Internally, the inclusion of the latest version of the VW Play multimedia system is anticipated. Contrary to initial speculations, it is crucial to highlight that the new SUV will not be called Gol.
Goodbye Volkswagen Gol, the Cycle of the Former Sales Leader Has Officially Ended
According to Volkswagen itself, the cycle of the former sales leader ended with the launch of the Polo Track, which is indeed its direct successor. Therefore, the expectation is that the name of the new model will be completely new.
A recent survey released by Quatro Rodas magazine indicated that Volkswagen consulted consumers about potential names for the new SUV.
Mini SUV Should Be Produced in Brazil in 2025, at the Taubaté (SP) Factory
Among the options considered were Hera, Tera, Therion, Taira, Copa, and Copan, with the latter being a tribute to the iconic building designed by Oscar Niemeyer in São Paulo. With an anticipated launch later this year in India, where some details have already been revealed through teasers, the new compact SUV is expected to be introduced in Brazil in 2025. Production will be in Taubaté (SP), and the model will enter the competition directly with the Fiat Pulse and the Renault Kardian.
