Find out which are the most sought-after cars that drink a lot, according to experts, and prepare to spend more at the gas station than expected.

Let's face it, who has never fallen in love with a stylish, powerful and impressive car, but at the same time been shocked when they saw its fuel consumption? These coveted cars that drink a lot of gas may even be charming at first sight, but the reality at the gas station can be quite bitter. And worst of all: they can wipe out your savings in record time. Is it worth it?

The CPG, in partnership with experts from the automotive world, made a survey of the 5 desired cars that drink a lot, and the result may make you think twice before closing the deal. Let's take a look?

Honda New Civic (2006-2011)

This Honda car is loved by many due to its comfort and timeless design. But, Honda New Civic It is also known for its unfriendly consumption. According to CPG experts, the 1.8 engine can reach frightening numbers, especially in the city, where consumption is between 6 and 8 km/l. On the highway, it improves a little, but you still need to be careful. “If you’re looking for economy, the New Civic may not be the best choice”, they say.

Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 is one of the most desirable cars that drink a lot

A compact SUV that exudes luxury and presence. But for those who think that because it is compact, fuel consumption will be reduced, there lies a surprise. This 1.6 turbo model can consume up to 8 km/l in the city. The turbo engine, although efficient in other areas, cannot save you money when it comes to refueling. “The GLA 200 combines style and performance, but consumption is definitely not the friendliest”, comments the automotive expert interviewed by CPG.

fiat punto 1.4

The Fiat Punto, especially the 1.4 model, may be a favorite among young people, but its consumption is practically the same as larger engines, such as the 1.6. This Fiat's consumption is around 7 to 8,5 km/l, and for a car in this category, this is considered high. “For the same consumption, you can get more powerful cars with better performance”, say experts.

Volkswagen Fox 1.0

You'd expect a car with a 1.0 engine to be economical, right? In the case of the Volkswagen Fox 1.0, the reality is different. This model has a similar consumption to a 1.6 car, especially when forced. In cities, this Volkswagen can do between 6 and 8 km/l, while on the highway it reaches a maximum of 12 km/l. “It’s not worth opting for the Fox 1.0 in search of savings, consumption is practically the same as more powerful engines”, say experts.

1.8 Jeep Renegade

The champion of the list is 1.8 Jeep Renegade. With an average of 5 to 8 km/l in the city, it stands out among the desired cars that drink a lot. The consumption performance is one of the biggest complaints of its owners. “It’s a robust car, but its high consumption may make you think twice before buying it”, warns the expert.

If you have your eye on one of these desirable cars that drink a lot of fuel, it is essential to weigh up the consumption and analyze whether it is worth the investment.
