New Highly Anticipated Feature Allows Payments Without Opening the Bank App! Check Out How Proximity Pix Will Work

Starting next Friday (28), Brazilians will be able to use Proximity Pix, making payments even faster and more practical! Now, it will be possible to make transfers just by bringing the phone close to the machine, just as it already happens with credit and debit cards, according to CNN.

The news eliminates the need to access the bank app to make the transaction, making the process faster and more efficient.

How Does Proximity Pix Work?

✔️ The user must add Pix to the digital wallet of their phone (Google Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, among others).
✔️ At the time of payment, just bring the phone close to the machine, review the transaction details, and confirm.
✔️ The maximum amount allowed will be R$ 500 per transaction, but the user can set lower or daily limits.
✔️ Banks, digital wallets, and machines are not required to offer this functionality, so it is important to check with your financial institution.

Will Traditional Pix End?

No! Proximity Pix is just an extra option. The traditional payment methods via Pix key and QR Code will continue to exist normally.

Initially, the feature will be available only for Android devices and users of banks that participate in Open Finance.
The project began testing in October 2023 in some stores in Brasília and São Paulo. Now, the functionality is starting to be expanded throughout Brazil.
