Channel ‘Talking About Cars’ Presents First Look at the New Renault Boreal, Featuring a 1.3 Turbo Engine, Sturdy Design, and Loaded Equipment List to Compete with H6 and Corolla Cross.

The medium SUV market has a new heavyweight competitor: the Renault Boreal. The model, one of the most anticipated launches of the year, had its top-of-the-line version, priced at R$ 214.990, revealed in detail by the specialized channel Talking About Cars. The vehicle seeks to reposition the brand in the segment, betting on a completely new look and a robust technological package.

Presented by Renato Maia from Talking About Cars, the SUV impresses with its equipment list, which includes full ADAS package, panoramic sunroof, and 1.3 turbo flex engine. The model arrives to compete in one of the hottest market segments, aiming directly at established leaders like the Haval H6, VW Taos, and Toyota Corolla Cross.

1.3 Turbo Engine and Initial Technical Details

Under the hood, the Renault Boreal brings a well-known set to the Brazilian public, but with updates. It features the 1.3 turbo flex engine, the same that equipped the Duster, capable of producing approximately 165 horsepower and 27 kgfm of torque. The transmission, according to the source, is a dual-clutch automatic.

As highlighted by Talking About Cars, crucial information such as fuel consumption, acceleration figures (0 to 100 km/h), and driving impressions are still under embargo from the manufacturer. These complete data are expected to be officially released on the 6th, but the engine already indicates the SUV’s proposal. The hood features acoustic insulation and a prop rod for easy opening.

Sturdy Design and Innovative Lighting Set

The design is one of the highlights of the Renault Boreal. With a visual identity that, according to the source, resembles the Bigster concept, but is an independent product, it stands out for its sturdiness. The front displays the new Renault emblem and a Full LED lighting system, including DRL, high beams (with manual assist) and low beams, as well as fog lights.

The top-of-the-line version presented by Talking About Cars features 19-inch wheels with a diamond-cut and black finish, disc brakes on all four wheels, and piano black side mirrors with turn signal repeaters and 360º camera. A curious design detail is the rear door handle integrated into the pillar, a solution that gives a cleaner look to the side. At the rear, the taillights are also LED, with sequential turn signals.

Interior Full of Technology and Premium Finishes

Inside, the Renault Boreal seeks to justify the price of R$ 215,000 with refined finishes and a lot of technology. The dashboard and the front doors feature soft-touch materials, and the seats in the displayed unit were covered in blue leather. The technological highlight is the digital instrument panel, which allows mirroring the GPS map, and the multimedia center with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which even includes Play Store to download apps.

The comfort list is extensive: dual-zone digital climate control, panoramic sunroof, premium sound system by Harman Kardon, and ventilated wireless phone charger. The driver also has an electric adjustable seat with massage function, a differentiator in the category. The ambient LED lighting changes color according to the selected driving mode (Eco, Comfort, Sport, Smart, or Perso).

Space and Safety Package (ADAS)

The trunk was described by Talking About Cars as “impressive” and “like a chest”, indicating a very generous volume, which also features a lower compartment. The compartment is fully carpeted and has a 12V outlet. The SUV also comes with a spare tire, a feature valued by many Brazilian consumers, and the trunk lid has electronic opening and closing.

In terms of safety, the Renault Boreal comes equipped with a complete ADAS package. The radar is visible on the front of the vehicle. The system includes adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane-keeping assist, blind-spot alert, and automatic emergency braking. The vehicle also features front and rear parking sensors, in addition to the previously mentioned 360º camera.

With a price that places it directly against market giants, the Renault Boreal seems to bring an extremely complete package in this top-of-the-line version, uniting design, technology, and the well-known 1.3 turbo engine. The competition promises to be intense in the medium SUV segment.

Do you think the Renault Boreal has what it takes to take on the Haval H6 and Corolla Cross in the R$ 215,000 price range? Does the design and equipment justify the price? Leave your opinion in the comments, we want to know what you think of this launch.
