After the initial reveal through teasers last Monday (1), Toyota officially announced the launch of the Urban Cruiser Taisor 2025. Designed specifically for emerging markets, this affordable SUV from Toyota is the result of a strategic partnership established with Suzuki in India, being a direct evolution of the Fronx model.
Toyota Taisor SUV Delivers A Lot Of Technology And Standard Features
The manufacturer promises this will be Toyota’s cheapest SUV in the country and will compete directly with Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite. In the same vein as the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, which is a rebadge of the Grand Vitara and rivals the Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen T-Cross, and Kia Seltos, the cheap Toyota SUV maintains the same overall structure of the original model (Fronx).
The difference with the Toyota Taisor lies in elements such as a redesigned front grille, new 16-inch wheels, a palette with new body colors, shiny accents in some details, and daytime running lights with a new signature.

The dashboard of the Toyota Taisor is basically identical to that of the original model, except for the change from the Suzuki logo to the Toyota one. One of its main features is the multimedia system, with a 9-inch tablet screen, various textures, and colors of the interior materials.
The Urban Cruiser Taisor also offers wireless connectivity with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera, wireless smartphone charging, keyless entry and starting, and air conditioning.
Toyota Taisor Price Revealed With An Initial Value Of 774 Thousand Rupees, Which In Direct Conversion Would Be Something Around R$ 47 Thousand
The new Toyota SUV offers two engine options: the first is a 1.0 turbo three-cylinder gasoline engine, capable of generating 100 horsepower and 15 kgfm of torque. The second option is a naturally aspirated 1.2 four-cylinder engine, which provides the vehicle with 90 horsepower and 11.5 kgfm of torque.
The Toyota Taisor comes with a five-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission. In terms of dimensions, the Toyota Taisor maintains the same measurements as its base model: 3.99 meters in length, 1.55 meters in height, and 1.76 meters in width, presenting dimensions similar to the Fiat Pulse.
In the primary launch market, India, the new Toyota Taisor has an initial price of 774 thousand rupees, equivalent to about R$ 47 thousand (in direct conversion and without federal taxes). Toyota plans to expand distribution of the Taisor to other emerging regions, including South Africa and the Middle East.
Brazilian SUV Market Will Receive News
In addition to this new Toyota SUV, last week the media reported that GM was about to launch the New Generation Chevrolet Equinox SUV with hybrid engine in the Chinese market. After all, contrary to initial plans, the brand decided to backtrack and focus only on electric cars.
This time, other information was released, and the new SUV from the brand, sold in the Asian country, will indeed have a plug-in electric motor paired with a 1.5-liter combustion engine. In Brazil, where it is expected to go on sale starting in 2025, it will come through Mexico.
The model will feature a 1.5 turbo gasoline engine with 170 horsepower and an electric unit with 188 horsepower. Combined power data has not yet been released. Regardless, it can already be stated that the new SUV from the brand takes 6.8 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h.
