New Electric Pickup Model Will Have Modern Design, Double Cabin, and May Arrive in Brazil Challenging Even Fiat Toro

Toyota has just confirmed its new electric pickup, a new model smaller than the Hilux, scheduled for release in Europe in 2026. With a monocoque body and double cabin, the new pickup is expected to be based on the Toyota EPU Concept, unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show 2023, according to the website Terra.

What to Expect from the New Electric Pickup from Toyota?

The model features a design inspired by SUVs and elements aimed at a lifestyle audience. Additionally, it will include innovative technologies for greater versatility. Check out some of the main features:

  • Impressive Dimensions: 5.07 m in length, 1.91 m in width and 1.71 m in height – measurements close to the Ford Maverick;
  • Generous Wheelbase: 3.35 m, surpassing Ford’s pickup by 28 cm;
  • Modern Body: black plastic details on the doors and fenders, plus black-painted “A” pillars creating a floating effect on the roof;
  • Functional Bed: foldable rear seat back, expanding the space from 1.35 m to up to 2.40 m with the tailgate open!
  • Futuristic Interior: minimalist dashboard, Yoke-style steering wheel (semi-circular, like in Teslas) and console with integrated table.

Additionally, the new pickup will be 100% electric, but there are chances of hybrid and even combustion variants for some markets.

Can the Toyota Corolla Pickup Arrive in Brazil?

Toyota has been heavily investing in hybrid-flex technology in Brazil and is already planning a new pickup derived from the Corolla Cross to compete with the Fiat Toro and the upcoming Renault Niagara.

Internally named “Corolla Pickup”, the model is under development and is expected to debut by 2027. Its design may be inspired by the EPU Concept, but with adaptations for the South American market.

Powerful Hybrid Flex Engine!

Plug-in Hybrid Version: 2.0 flex engine + electric with 223 hp combined and 50 km autonomy in electric mode;
Entry-level Versions: 2.0 aspirated flex engine with 175 hp;
Transmission: automatic CVT for combustion versions and e-CVT for hybrids.

This pickup is part of Toyota’s investment of R$ 11 billion in Brazil by 2030.
