Works Continue on the Banks of the Paraíba River
According to the governor, the interventions are happening simultaneously along the banks of the Paraíba River, both in Cabedelo and Santa Rita.
“This is what a dream looks like when it is turning into reality. The Future Bridge is taking shape, with the foundation works happening on the banks of the Paraíba River in both Cabedelo and Santa Rita,” wrote João Azevêdo in the post.

The expectation is that the Future Bridge will be inaugurated by 2026, according to projections made earlier by Azevêdo in an interview with the Arapuan Verdade program. The works started in February 2025, at kilometer 9.64 of BR-230, on the Cabedelo road.

Structure Includes Two Bridges, Viaduct, and Bicycle Lane
The project provides for the construction of two bridges. The first will be 2.1 km long, connecting BR-230 to BR-101 North. It will feature a roadway of 7.2 meters, a sidewalk of 3.3 meters, a bicycle lane of 2.5 meters, and a shoulder of 2.5 meters.
The second bridge will be 420 meters long and will be built over the Rio da Guia, in the municipality of Lucena.
This part of the complex will also include a 40-meter viaduct over the railway line, whose foundation is already under construction.

Logistical Investment and Strengthening of the Port of Cabedelo
The Future Bridge also aims to improve access to the Port of Cabedelo, which recorded a record of 1.5 million tons handled in 2024.
There are still efforts to reactivate the railway between Cajazeiras and Cabedelo, with the support of the president of FIEP, Cassiano Pereira.
The total project is estimated to cost R$ 465.5 million and includes road extensions, such as PB-011, and adjustments on PB-025.
