It seems like something out of a movie, but it’s real: how technology uses invisible sound waves to extinguish small fires without water, without chemicals, and without destroying household furniture.
However, the change more than doubles the total cost of the process, raising the fee from US$ 185 to US$ 435 (approximately R$ 2,419) per visa.
The Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, has the authority to modify or regulate the application of the fee.
Why Did The US Decide To Increase The Visa Fee?
The new US visa fee arises as part of a tax strategy approved by Congress and aims to strengthen the budget focused on security and immigration.
The justification, according to US officials, is related to the need to maintain an efficient, secure system with the structure to meet high demand.
Even with the approval, the extra fee may be refundable in certain cases, as provided in the legislation, although criteria for this have not yet been fully detailed.
So far, the US Embassy in Brazil has not released information on when the new fee will take effect, leaving many Brazilians alert about the best time to apply for the document.
