Mysterious winner bought ticket in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole but did not claim £1 million EuroMillions prize within the deadline and lost the amount, which will now be allocated to social projects funded by the National Lottery

£1 million, approximately R$7 million, was not paid to a mysterious winner in the UK after the EuroMillions prize ticket was not presented within the stipulated six months. The case was reported by portals such as O Globo and GB News.

Ticket bought in Southern England was not claimed

The operator of the British National Lottery, Allwyn, confirmed that no valid claim was registered for the Millionaire Maker prize, linked to EuroMillions. The draw took place on November 4, 2025.

The winning ticket had been bought in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, in Southern England. Despite the widely publicized search, the holder did not come forward by the deadline.

The deadline ended at midnight on Sunday, May 3. As a result, the EuroMillions prize, along with accumulated interest, will be allocated to projects benefiting from the National Lottery.

Allwyn confirms loss of millionaire amount

Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at Allwyn, stated that there was an extensive search for the mysterious millionaire. Still, the ticket holder did not claim the amount.

Carter stated that the winner lost a life-changing amount. The confirmation ended the search for the winner who, despite having the winning ticket, did not receive the money.

The case draws attention due to the size of the amount and the missed deadline. The EuroMillions prize remained unclaimed because the request was not made within the allowed period.

Money will go to Good Causes

With the deadline passed, the money will be reverted to so-called Good Causes. These projects receive funds raised by the National Lottery in different regions of the United Kingdom.

Carter stated that the amount will add to the £33 million, approximately R$221 million, raised each week for projects funded by the National Lottery.

Some of these initiatives can be found in the Bournemouth area. The allocation includes the main value of the EuroMillions prize and the interest accumulated during the period.

Local projects have already received funds

National Lottery players helped support projects in Bournemouth. The Bowra Foundation received £20,000, approximately R$140,000, in December 2025 for the BOWRA Bag project.

The Southbourne Surf Life Saving Club also received £20,000 last year. Meredith’s Mission, aimed at children with cancer in Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch, received the same amount.

Another £20,000 was allocated in September 2025 to Hope Housing Training and Support Limited. These transfers are part of the network of initiatives funded by lottery resources.

Lottery raises millions every week

Each week, British bettors help generate approximately £33 million for projects supported by the National Lottery. Since 1994, over £53 billion, approximately R$355 billion, has been raised.

This total funds hundreds of initiatives across the UK. In the case of the mysterious winner, the lack of a claim changed the money’s destiny, moving it from a winning ticket to social actions.
