Mid-Level Version of the Honda City Sedan Received Features Previously Exclusive to the Top Model, but Price Surpasses Rivals 1.0 Turbo.
The Honda City Sedan EXL 2025 was officially presented with a price of R$ 136,400, a value that places it above competitors such as VW Virtus, Chevrolet Onix Plus, Hyundai HB20S, and Fiat Cronos in turbocharged versions. The novelty is that the model gained features previously exclusive to the Touring version, such as electronic parking brake, digital air conditioning, and induction charger.
Despite the adjustment, the EXL maintains its focus on interior space, efficient consumption, and a technology safety package. For the consumer, the dilemma is clear: opt for the robustness and reliability of the brand or consider cheaper alternatives with turbo engines and superior performance.
What Changed in the City EXL 2025

Visually, the Honda City Sedan EXL 2025 received redesigned front and rear, 16” wheels (185/55R16), and finishing touches. The cabin now offers leather seats, a digital panel, multimedia with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, two front USB-A ports, and two rear USB-C ports, in addition to rear air vents.

Forget the Toyota Hilux: with a 2.0 turbo engine and 475 hp, the new BYD Shark Performance tows 3,500 kg, accelerates in 5.5 seconds, and addresses historical criticism, but loses load capacity and surprises even medium pickup truck owners.
In terms of safety, the sedan retains Honda Sensing (a safety assistance package with lane-keeping and automatic braking) and LaneWatch, a camera in the right mirror that displays the blind spot when the turn signal is activated. The set of seven airbags remains standard, reinforcing the safety proposal.
Engine and Consumption
The powertrain of the Honda City Sedan EXL 2025 continues to be the well-known 1.5 naturally aspirated direct-injection (DI), which generates 126 hp and torque of 15.5 kgfm on gasoline or 15.8 kgfm on ethanol. The transmission is CVT, prioritizing smoothness and economy, and can simulate gears through the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.
According to data cited by presenter Stanley, the consumption is 12.8 km/l in the city and 15.5 km/l on the highway with gasoline. The tank has 44 liters, and the suspension maintains the McPherson setup in the front and torsion beam in the rear, with disc brakes on all four wheels — a differential compared to simpler versions.
Interior Space and Trunk
One of the strong points of the City Sedan EXL 2025 is the interior space. The model has a trunk capacity of 519 liters, a volume that exceeds even larger sedans. The interior also offers induction charger, electronic brake with Auto Hold, and more refined finishing.
In practice, Honda’s proposal is to deliver a balanced car: efficient in consumption, spacious for the family, and equipped with technologies that enhance the onboard experience.
Price and Competition
The value of R$ 136,400 places the Honda City Sedan EXL 2025 above several rivals with turbo engines, such as the VW Virtus and the Chevrolet Onix Plus. While these competitors offer more performance, the City bets on mechanical reliability, low maintenance costs, and consumption efficiency as differentiators.
With the departure of the Toyota Yaris Sedan from the Brazilian market, the Honda City now competes alone in the premium compact sedan segment, but faces the challenge of justifying the price against cheaper turbocharged options.
And you, do you think the Honda City Sedan EXL 2025 justifies the R$ 136 thousand for the package of features and reliability, or do the turbo rivals offer more for the money? Please leave your opinion in the comments.
