Federal Public Bank Keeps Applications Open For Its Internship Program, With Opportunities In Several Capitals, Scholarship Of Up To R$ 1,768.32, Benefits That Go Beyond R$ 1 Thousand And Requirement Of Good Academic Performance.

The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) is holding a selection process open for internships, aimed at undergraduate students from dozens of courses in different fields of knowledge. Applications are open until December 31, 2025, allowing interested candidates to organize themselves throughout the second semester.

This is an opportunity at one of the country’s main public banks, created in 1952 and today considered one of the largest development banks in the world. The BNDES is the federal government’s main instrument for financing long-term projects and investments in various sectors of the Brazilian economy.

Although it is not a competition for a permanent position, the internship at BNDES is often viewed as an entry point into the public sector and the world of economic development policies. The vacancies are distributed among the bank’s units in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Brasília, and Recife, which broadens the geographical reach of the program.

The remuneration package includes scholarship, transportation allowance, meal allowance, medical and dental assistance, making the total monthly aid close to R$ 3,1 thousand for a 6-hour shift, according to estimates released by specialized outlets based on the internship program’s announcement.

Who Can Compete For The Internship At BNDES In 2025

The BNDES selection process is aimed at undergraduate students from fields such as Administration, Economics, Law, Social Communication, Psychology, Computer Science, Engineering (various specialties), Architecture, Archival Science, Library Science, Statistics, Data Science, and Technology in Systems Analysis, among others.

The list of prioritized courses appears detailed in promotional materials based on the announcement and replicated by regional news portals.

Students who are between the 3rd and 6th semester in 8-semester courses, or from the 3rd to 8th semester in 10-semester courses can participate. Another important filter is the GPA (cumulative grade point average): the bank requires a score of at least 7.0 for humanities courses and 6.0 for exact sciences, which raises the competitiveness of the process.

The BNDES also states on its own institutional website that it seeks to reduce educational inequalities by taking into account socioeconomic criteria, such as having studied in public schools, being a beneficiary of programs such as Bolsa Família or PROUNI, or having a full scholarship in private schools. This set of requirements tries to align the internship program with the bank’s social inclusion agenda. BNDES

Scholarship, Benefits And Working Hours Of The Internship

According to information released by CIEE and job sites, the internship scholarship at BNDES is R$ 1,178.88 for a 4-hour daily shift and R$ 1,768.32 for 6 hours. These amounts place the program among the most attractive in the public sector when it comes to higher education internships.

In addition to the scholarship, the intern is entitled to monthly transportation allowance of R$ 369.98 and meal allowance that can reach R$ 1,016.18 per month, as well as medical and dental assistance. Together, these benefits bring the total remuneration to around R$ 3.1 thousand, depending on the chosen working hours.

The working hours are from Monday to Friday, with an option of 4 or 6 hours per day and flexible hours, allowing the student to adjust the internship to their class schedule. Initially, the program provides for contracts of 6 months, with a possibility of extension up to a limit of 2 years or until the completion of the course, whichever comes first.

Stages Of The Selection Process At BNDES

According to a publication by Diário do Pará and specialized competition vehicles, the 2025 selection process at BNDES will consist of five stages, including curriculum analysis, online interview, writing test, and specific evaluations. In some cases, medical exams are also expected before the effective hiring.

BNDES, in its general guidelines, explains that the integration agent (CIEE) conducts the initial screening, checking academic requirements, tests, writing, and group dynamics, before forwarding the candidates that best fit the bank’s profile.

In the next stage, BNDES conducts interviews and technical tests to assess competencies and the so-called “sense of purpose” of the students.

The combination of high academic performance required, multiple stages, and strong competition makes the internship seen as a robust selection process. Therefore, career specialists recommend that candidates prepare in advance by updating their resumes, practicing writing, and reviewing basic content in the area they intend to work.

How To Apply Through CIEE And Deadlines For The Vacancies

Applications for the BNDES internship are made exclusively online, through the public process portal of CIEE (Center for Integration of Company and School). The candidate needs to find the process related to BNDES, fill out the registration, attach their school transcript with GPA, and provide an updated enrollment declaration.

The application deadline is until December 31, 2025, which, in theory, gives plenty of time for those who are still organizing documents or adjusting their GPA. In practice, however, it is common for many students to wait until the last minute, which can lead to system congestion and missed important deadlines.

Before applying, it is essential to carefully read the announcement and check if the course, semester, and academic performance meet all the requirements. It is also worth following the official channels of BNDES and CIEE itself to check for any updates on the schedule or additional phases of the process.

Why The Internship At BNDES Generates Debate Among Students

The internship program at BNDES is often seen as a “dream position” for uniting remuneration above the average of traditional internships, robust benefits, and the possibility of working on projects with direct impact on the economic and social development of the country. For many young people, it represents an important differentiator in their resumes.

At the same time, the high GPA requirements and multi-stage selection raise discussions about who, in fact, can compete in more balanced conditions. Critics point out that low-income students, even with good performance, may face more difficulties in maintaining high grades amid work hours and other obstacles.

There is also the debate about the concentration of vacancies in the capitals, which limits access for students from other regions who cannot relocate to cities like Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Brasília, or Recife. For some, this reinforces inequalities; for others, it is a consequence of the historical location of the bank’s headquarters and offices.

In the end, the internship at BNDES continues to be a highly sought opportunity, especially for those who dream of a career tied to the public sector and development area. It is up to the candidate to evaluate whether the required profile, location of the vacancies, and phases of the process make sense for their academic and professional moment.

If you are a student and have made it this far, what do you think of this selection model? Do the strict grade criteria and the vacancies concentrated in major centers make the process fairer or end up excluding those who most need the opportunity? Leave your opinion in the comments and let us know if you intend to apply for the internship at BNDES in 2025.
