In addition to the appeal for peace, Mauro Vieira highlighted BRICS’s commitment to the reform of the UN Security Council. Brazil, according to him, believes that the current structure does not reflect the realities of the 21st century, with little representation of developing countries.
BRICS Summit of Heads of State Will Be in July
The ministerial meeting that opened Brazil’s presidency also served as preparation for the summit of BRICS heads of state and government, which will take place on July 6 and 7, again in Rio de Janeiro. The expectation is that the leaders of the member countries will deepen discussions on issues such as global security, sustainable development, and strengthening the Global South.
