So far in 2023, BYD has sold a total of 2,683,374 electrified vehicles, positioning itself to reach the amazing goal of 3 million by the end of December.

In a surprising turn of events in the automotive industry, BYD, the renowned Chinese manufacturer, surpassed Nissan’s sales, marking a significant milestone with a new sales record of electric vehicles (EV).

In November, BYD delivered over 300,000 units of electric and plug-in hybrid cars, consolidating its position as a leader in the global market. With a 31% growth compared to the same period last year, BYD has demonstrated its dominance in the electrified vehicle sector.

This historic achievement highlights not only BYD’s strong position in the market but also reveals a clear trend: electric vehicles (EV) are gaining ground, surpassing plug-in hybrids (PHEV).

According to data revealed by BYD, electric car sales reached the impressive mark of 170,150 units last month, while plug-in hybrids saw a slight drop of 3.22%, totaling 131,228 units. These numbers reinforce the idea that consumer preference is shifting towards pure electric vehicles.

So far in 2023, BYD has sold a total of 2,683,374 electrified vehicles, positioning itself to reach the incredible goal of 3 million by the end of December. The current sales ratio shows 43.47% for PHEV and 56.36% for BEV, highlighting the growing popularity of fully electric cars.

Top Sellers from the Brand

When analyzing the best-selling models, the Seagull, Dolphin, and Seal stand out, the latter available in both BEV and PHEV versions. With impressive numbers of 44,603, 35,246, and 19,860 units, respectively, these models contributed significantly to BYD’s success.

It is important to note that this achievement is not limited to the Chinese domestic market. BYD has successfully consolidated its international presence, leading electric car sales in countries like Thailand, Colombia, and Brazil. In the Brazilian market, the Dolphin has maintained its position as the best-selling electric car for several consecutive months.

BYD Surpasses Nissan: A New Era in the Electric Automotive Industry

With this phenomenal growth, BYD has surpassed Nissan in global sales for the first time. Despite a 5% growth compared to the previous year, the Japanese automaker could not maintain its position in light of the unstoppable rise of BYD. This shift in market dynamics suggests a significant transformation in consumer preferences worldwide.

Established in China, BYD is accelerating its international expansion, backed by the strength of its electric vehicles. Additionally, the company has ambitious plans for developing new technologies and establishing a complex for electric vehicle and battery production in Camaçari (BA), Brazil.
