The Chinese BYD continues to grow in the Brazilian market and is heavily investing in its electric vehicles. After being the leader in the segment in 2023, the brand promises to renew its fleet in 2024 and maintain its leadership. Currently, the multinational has an impressive portfolio consisting of the models SUV Yuan Up, Dolphin Mini, Seal, and Song Plus. SUV Yuan Up Is Coming Soon with 177 HP and the Promise of Being the Cheapest Electric SUV in Brazil
Set to be launched in March, the BYD Yuan Up will arrive here equipped with the new BYD e-Platform 3.0, developed exclusively for electric vehicles. Maximizing the advantages of technology, efficiency, safety, and aesthetics, this platform aims to provide performance, enhanced safety, and range. The SUV Yuan Up can be characterized as a smaller and more accessible version of the BYD Yuan Plus.

According to media reports, it will have a price very similar to that of the Dolphin, ranging from R$ 170,000 to R$ 200,000, which will likely make it the cheapest electric SUV in Brazil. The technical specifications have not yet been disclosed, but the expectation is that the SUV Yuan Up will have three versions in China, with engine options ranging from 95 horsepower to 177 HP, as well as Blade battery technology of 32 kWh or 45 kWh.

BYD Song Plus Is the Cheapest Plug-In Hybrid in Brazil

The BYD Song Plus is the cheapest plug-in hybrid in the country. In the pre-sale phase (which the factory does not disclose how long it will last), it costs R$ 269,990. At first glance, the Song Plus impresses with its visual appeal, highlighted by full LED headlights with projectors. The rear follows the refined look of its sibling, BYD Tan. The aesthetic standard of the exterior is repeated inside the cabin, where there is little hard plastic and much material that mimics leather.
The BYD Song Plus features the DM-i powertrain, which combines a 1.5 naturally aspirated engine producing 110 horsepower and 13.8 kgfm with an electric motor of 179 horsepower and 32.2 kgfm. The Chinese brand did not disclose the combined power and torque figures, and charging the small 8.3 kWh battery has a maximum power of 3.3 kW, which practically means 2h30 on the plug for a range of 51 km in 100% electric mode.
