BYD’s Sports Model Arrives In The Country With Powerful Engines, Innovative Design, Advanced Driving Assistance Technologies, And A Bet To Compete With Traditional Sports Hatches In The Segment.
BYD has officially registered the Seal X, its new electric hatchback with a sporty profile, at the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) of Brazil.
The model, which had already been presented in the Chinese market, arrives as an electrified alternative to the segment traditionally occupied by vehicles such as the Volkswagen Golf GTI.
With outstanding performance, high autonomy, and state-of-the-art driving assistance technologies, the BYD Seal X indicates the Chinese manufacturer’s bet to win over Brazilian consumers looking for a fully electric sports hatch.

Platform, Launch, And Design Of The Seal X
The BYD Seal X was officially launched in China in August 2024, under the name Seal 06 GT, with sales starting in October of the same year.

The vehicle was developed based on the e-Platform 3.0 Evo, an evolution of the architecture used in other models of the brand, such as the Seal sedan, Dolphin Mini, and Song L.
This platform prioritizes energy efficiency, integration between the battery and the body, and offers advanced technological resources.
In the external design, the Seal X features modern and aerodynamic lines, highlighting the closed front grille mounted in a low position, a characteristic that reinforces its sporty profile.
At the rear, a LED strip connects the taillights, accompanied by the illuminated BYD logo.
The model offers four external color options, sporty wheels of 18 or 19 inches, and an estimated aerodynamic coefficient of 0.23, one of the lowest in the segment, contributing to energy efficiency and the fluid look of the electric sports hatch.
Interior, Connectivity, And Embedded Technology

The interior has been designed to provide a high level of technology and comfort.
The intelligent DiLink 100 cockpit includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12-inch head-up display (HUD), and a rotating central screen of up to 15.6 inches, providing a connected driving experience.
The infotainment system also features voice and gesture control, integration with Android and iOS smartphones, as well as remote updates via OTA (over-the-air).
Safety, Driving Assistance, And Features Of The BYD Seal X
Regarding safety, the BYD Seal X stands out for its intelligent driving assistance system DiPilot 5.0, which combines up to 12 ultrasonic sensors, five millimeter-wave radars, and five high-definition cameras for complete monitoring of the vehicle’s surroundings.
Among the available features are facial recognition, driver monitoring, 360-degree cameras with night vision, and 16 driving assistance functions.
The model aims to meet the highest international automotive safety standards.
Powertrain, Performance, And Driving Modes

In terms of powertrain, the medium-sized electric sports hatch will be available in two main configurations: rear-wheel drive (RWD) with a power output of 160 kW (approximately 215 hp) and all-wheel drive (AWD) with a combined power of 310 kW (around 421 hp).
In the AWD version, the Seal X accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, performance comparable to high-performance sports cars.
The iTAC system, an intelligent torque adaptation control, ensures efficient distribution of power among the wheels, optimizing acceleration and stability, especially in curves and low-traction situations.
Blade Battery, Range, And Energy Efficiency
The Blade battery, featuring CTB (Cell-to-Body) technology, is one of the highlights of the BYD Seal X.
This battery, globally recognized for its high safety and efficiency, offers an estimated capacity of 82.5 kWh.
With this, the range can reach 600 km on the CLTC cycle for the AWD version and about 550 km for the RWD version, values that vary according to the homologation standard.
On the WLTP cycle, utilized in Europe and considered more rigorous, the estimated range varies from 450 to 520 km, depending on the version.
Dimensions, Interior Space, And Comfort

The vehicle’s dimensions reinforce its proposal for interior space and comfort:
- Length: 4,630 mm
- Width: 1,880 mm
- Height: 1,490 mm
- Wheelbase: 2,820 mm
The gross weight of nearly 2,200 kg in the AWD version is justified by the battery pack and onboard equipment.
Standard Equipment And Differentiators Of The BYD Seal X
The standard equipment package in the top-of-the-line configuration includes:
- Full LED headlights and taillights with dynamic daytime running lights (DRL)
- Panoramic sunroof
- Dual-zone air conditioning with air purifier
- Sport seats with electric adjustment and ventilation
- Premium sound system
- 360º camera with night vision
The presence of the 360º camera with night vision enhances safety during maneuvers and nighttime driving, reinforcing the technological appeal of the model.
Prices And Market Positioning
In the Chinese market, the BYD Seal X is sold in the range of 180,000 to 220,000 yuan, which represents approximately R$ 123,000 to R$ 150,000 in direct conversion.
However, considering taxes and import costs in Brazil, it is estimated that the final price may vary between R$ 240,000 and R$ 290,000, positioning the model as a direct rival to established sports hatches, but with the advantage of being fully electric.

BYD’s Strategy And Impact On The Brazilian Segment
The launch of the BYD Seal X reinforces the Chinese manufacturer’s strategy to expand its presence in the electric sports vehicle segment in Brazil, leveraging the know-how acquired in the competitive Asian market.
With the potential to rival historical names like the Golf GTI, it remains to be seen how the Brazilian public will react to the arrival of a 100% electric sports hatch, equipped with the most advanced technologies in connectivity, performance, and safety.
The expectation is that the model will help accelerate the electrification of the segment and raise the standards of consumer demand.
Given the new options offered by the electric sports car market in Brazil, which feature of the BYD Seal X stands out to you: range, performance, connectivity, or safety technology?
