Tired Of Seeing Holes And Mud Taking Over The Variante Street, The Residents Of Mosqueiro Organized, Raised R$ 200 Thousand And Carried Out On Their Own The Work That The City Hall Promised For Years.

Residents Of The Mosqueiro District In Belém Decided To Take Action On Their Own And Fund The Paving Of A Stretch Of Variante Street, After Years Of Waiting For Promised Works By The Public Authorities.

The Group Invested About R$ 200 Thousand In The Purchase Of Materials And The Execution Of Earthworks, Transforming Part Of The Road With Resources Raised Among The Residents Themselves.

The New Asphalt Was Laid On The 15th Of This Month, Between Rua Nova, At The Corner With The Municipal School Anna Barreau, And Rua Paul Ledoux.

The Initiative Improved Local Mobility, But Also Highlighted The Precariousness Of The Stretch That Remains Unpaved.

Unfulfilled Promises

According To The Residents, The Stretch Had Never Been Paved. The Only Paved Part Of Variante Was The Connection From Rodovia Augusto Meira Filho, Known As PA-391, To The Anna Barreau School — An Old And Deteriorated Piece, Near A Supermarket.

The Stretch Had Never Been Paved. They Have Put Up Signs Several Times Saying It Would Be Paved, With Values Of Over R$ 500 Thousand, R$ 800 Thousand, But They Never Took It Off The Paper. The Signs Stayed Up For Two Or Three Days And Then Disappeared,” Said Another Resident To G1.

According To Him, There Is Also An Old Paving Project For The Area, Which Would Include The Construction Of A Bridge Connecting The Stretch To Other Neighborhoods In Mosqueiro, Such As São Francisco And Carananduba. However, The Works Never Left The Drawing Board.

City Hall Says Work Was Not Authorized

In A Statement Sent To G1, The City Hall Of Belém, Through The Municipal Secretariat For Urban Care And Conservation (Sezel), Informed That The Paving Was Done By Private Individuals Without Prior Communication Or Formal Authorization From The Competent Authorities.

The Municipal Administration Stated That Any Intervention In Public Roads Must Be Previously Authorized To Ensure Safety, Urban Planning, And Compliance With Technical Standards.

The Residents, On The Other Hand, Claim That They Requested Authorization Before Carrying Out The Services. “We Didn’t Do Anything Without Asking For Permission, Without Having Documents Or Without Being Authorized. If It Were Authorized, We Would Do It. If Not, We Wouldn’t. It Was Done Because There Was Authorization,” They Declared.

Lack Of Sanitation Is Still Concerning

In Addition To Paving, The Residents Highlight That Other Structural Problems Remain Unsolved. “Today We Understand That The Asphalt Is The Minimum To Achieve Dignified Transit. There Were Many Holes, A Lot Of Mud Here. This Asphalt Was Made As Best As Possible, Within The Budget And The Collections We Made. But If You Stop To Think, We Don’t Have Sanitation, We Don’t Have Sewage, We Don’t Have Water Drainage,” Lamented One Of The Participants In The Initiative.

Even With Limitations, The Community Already Feels The Positive Effects Of The Change. “Now It’s Noticeable. We Don’t Have Holes Or Mud Anymore.

The Speed At Which Things Flow For Our Deliverers Has Improved A Lot. This Little Agility Will Reflect In Deliveries, And Our Car Will Last Longer Because Before It Lived In The Workshop. It’s A Gigantic Improvement For Everyone,” Concluded The Resident.

Governo seja ele prefeitura, estado ou nação só serve para roubar o dinheiro do contribuinte. São só políticos, nunca administraram nada..são incompetentes… é o maior atraso e desperdício de um país!
