Best-Selling Pickup in the Country Maintains Lead as Brazilian Market Slows and SUVs Compete for Space Among the Most Sought-After Models.
The Fiat Strada once again topped the Brazilian light vehicle market in November, with 13,019 registrations and solidifying its position as the best-selling model in the country among cars and light commercial vehicles, according to K.Lume Consulting.
In a month when the sector recorded a volume decline, the Strada maintained its leadership supported by the 1.3 Firefly engine, known for its combination of robustness and efficiency, with fuel consumption that can approach 14 km/l in highway use with gasoline, according to test data and the official cycle from Inmetro.
Even with the strong performance of the pickup, the market as a whole slowed down.

New vehicle sales reached 226,705 units in November, with 182,078 passenger cars and 44,627 light commercials.
This volume reflects a decline of 8.2% compared to October and a drop of 6.2% compared to November 2024, still according to K.Lume’s figures.
However, year-to-date, the balance remains positive.
From January to November, there were 2,280,273 light vehicles registered, compared to 2,242,816 in the same period last year, keeping the market up by 1.7%.

The consultancy projects that 2025 will end with around 2.53 million units sold.
Although the monthly total decreased, the intensity of sales increased.
November counted 19 working days, four fewer than October, but registered an average of 12,561 units per day, an increase of 10.8% compared to the previous month and the fourth consecutive record of 2025 in this metric.
The distribution of registrations throughout the month also changed.
The holiday on November 18 concentrated part of the demand in the second half: 46.6% of sales occurred in the first fifteen days and 53.4% were registered in the second half of the month.
Fiat Strada and Its Role in the Brazilian Market
The overall leadership of the Fiat Strada is explained not only by the November figures but also by the model’s recent trajectory.
The compact pickup serves both the professional audience, who uses the vehicle for light cargo transport and urban services, and families looking for a utility vehicle for mixed use during trips and weekend leisure.
In the current range, the Strada offers versions aimed at fleet operators and small businesses, in addition to configurations with a double cab and more complete finishing, designed to combine work routines with personal use.

The 1.3 Firefly flex engine is one of the pillars of this versatility.
In recent configurations, the assembly reaches over 100 hp and is recognized for its good energy efficiency, with measurements indicating highway consumption around or above 14 km/l with gasoline in some versions.
This balance between performance, load capacity, and operating cost contributes to the Strada’s continued dominance in the light commercial segment.
The model remains ahead of rivals such as Volkswagen Saveiro, Fiat Toro, Toyota Hilux, and Chevrolet S10.
Tera, Onix, and the Best-Selling Cars
Among the passenger cars, the highlight of the month was the Volkswagen Tera.
The compact SUV registered 9,772 units and took second place in the overall ranking while leading the group of automobiles.
It was followed by the Chevrolet Onix, with 9,524 registrations, and the Volkswagen Polo, with 9,381 units, completing the podium of the best-selling cars.

The Volkswagen T-Cross follows with 9,016 units, followed by the Fiat Argo (8,386), Hyundai Creta (7,689), Hyundai HB20 (7,640), Renault Kwid (7,303), and Fiat Mobi (7,188).
The Tera, developed in Brazil and launched in 2025, is establishing itself as a central piece in Volkswagen’s strategy for the entry-level compact SUVs segment.
The model started being sold in June, in multiple versions, and combines a package of safety and connectivity features with competitive pricing.
The Onix, which recently underwent a redesign, regained momentum in registrations, approaching the performance that led it to market leadership in previous years.
Competition Between SUVs in Brazil
Segmented by category, the Volkswagen T-Cross maintained its leadership among traditional compact SUVs, with 9,016 units.
This performance positioned the model well ahead of direct rivals like the Hyundai Creta (7,689), Nissan Kicks (5,646), and Honda HR-V (4,963).
One level below in price and positioning, the Volkswagen Tera once again stood out in the sub-segment of entry-level compact SUVs.
In addition to its second place in the overall ranking, the model was well above competitors such as Fiat Pulse (3,213), Honda WR-V (1,342), and Renault Kardian (1,097).
The combination of T-Cross and Tera allowed Volkswagen to place three models among the five best-selling in the country for the month.

Toyota and the Impact of the Shutdown in Porto Feliz
The November results also reflected the impact of the Toyota shutdown following the storm that hit the engine factory in Porto Feliz (SP).
The episode caused severe structural damage, such as roofing damage and the collapse of parts of the warehouse, leading to a temporary suspension of operations both in the engine plant and in the assembly units in Sorocaba and Indaiatuba, responsible for the Corolla and Corolla Cross.
As a result, the Corolla Cross dropped to 1,465 units in November, well below the 3,609 recorded in October.
The Corolla sedan achieved 1,034 registrations and ended up outside the overall Top 50.
The automaker began the gradual resumption of production on November 3, focusing on hybrid versions of the Corolla and Corolla Cross manufactured in Sorocaba and Indaiatuba.
To enable the return of the lines, the company began using imported engines from other units of the group.
The Porto Feliz factory remains under evaluation and without a defined date for reopening.
The expectation released by the brand is that volumes will be fully normalized only over the first quarter of 2026.
The Hilux and SW4 utilities, produced in Zárate, Argentina, remained unaffected by the problems at the São Paulo engine unit.
In a scenario where compact pickups, SUVs, and hybrid models are simultaneously gaining ground, what will be the next vehicle capable of challenging the leadership of the Fiat Strada in the Brazilian market?
