Chevrolet Tracker and Nissan Kicks Receive Important Updates in 2025, with New 1.0 Turbo Engines, More Technology, and Visual Changes
The compact SUV segment in Brazil is set to get two important updates in 2025. Chevrolet Tracker and Nissan Kicks arrive with visual updates, turbocharged engines, and more technology.
Both are among the best-selling models in the category and are now preparing to maintain relevance in an increasingly competitive market.
New Tracker: More Power and Hybrid Version on the Way
The Chevrolet Tracker will be the first to debut. Scheduled to arrive in the first half of the year, GM’s SUV will undergo a facelift and also receive an all-new flex hybrid version.

Harley-Davidson created an entry-level motorcycle that seems impossible for those who only know the brand’s big bikes: the X440 uses a 440 cc single-cylinder engine, delivers 27 hp, 38 Nm, a declared fuel consumption of 35 km/l, and showcases a small, rational, and much more accessible Harley in India.

GAC Aion UT lands in Brazil for R$ 135,990 as the most affordable electric car in the country with over 200 hp, surpasses BYD Dolphin in size, features a 360 camera, and offers up to 310 km of range to challenge Chinese rivals.

Mitsubishi confirms the triumphant return of a car beloved by Brazilians that was discontinued after almost 40 years, based on the Triton, 4×4, and targets rival Toyota Land Cruiser in a plan of 13 SUVs.
The front of the car will be the area with the most changes: the headlights gain a new shape with LEDs divided, and the front grille will follow the style of the Montana. Meanwhile, the rear retains its current design but with a new arrangement of the taillights.
Inside, the Tracker will have the same screen setup already present in other models from the brand. The dashboard will feature an 11-inch multimedia screen integrated with an 8-inch digital cluster.
The list of equipment will also be expanded, with a focus on active safety systems, as the current model still does not offer an Adas package.
The Tracker will retain the 1.0 and 1.2 turbo engines from the CSS line. Both have been updated with Proconve L8 and now have more power.
The 1.0 turbo has increased from 116 hp to 121 hp, with torque rising from 16.8 to 18.3 kgfm. Meanwhile, the 1.2 engine delivers 141 hp and 22.9 kgfm.
The big news will be the launch of the mild hybrid Tracker.
According to Autoesporte’s investigations, Chevrolet dealerships have already been informed that the distribution of the new version will begin in the first half of the year.
The hybrid system is expected to use the 1.0 turbo flex engine in conjunction with a 48V generator. This system provides an electric boost during moments like overtaking, reducing the effort of the combustion engine and improving fuel consumption.
New Kicks
The second generation of the Nissan Kicks is also debuting this year and is already being produced at the Resende factory in Rio de Janeiro.
The new model features profound design changes, to the point of surprising those who see the SUV for the first time.
The front boasts a slatted grille that cuts through the headlight and separates the set of LED daytime running lights. At the rear, the inverted “L” shaped taillights are positioned just below the glass of the trunk lid.
Internally, the new Kicks will have a dashboard with two integrated screens, both measuring 12 inches. The model will use the 1.0 three-cylinder turbo engine with direct injection from Horse, the same engine that powers the Renault Kardian.
In its original version, the HR10DDT engine produces 110 hp and 20.4 kgfm with gasoline.
With flex technology in the Kardian, the number increases to 120 hp and 125 hp with ethanol. Nissan has yet to reveal the official figures for the Kicks, but the engine is expected to undergo adjustments.
The new engine will be produced in Resende with the same components from Horse, and it is anticipated to have its own identity within Nissan’s lineup.
The automaker is also expected to use a different transmission than the automated one from the Kardian. Nissan is known for the good performance of its CVT transmission, which may indicate its application in the new SUV.
Competition Between Two Giants of the Segment
In addition to the new engine, the Kicks has also grown in size. The SUV now measures 4.37 meters in length, 2.66 m in wheelbase, 1.80 m in width, and 1.63 m in height.
The dimensions bring the model closer to medium SUVs, such as the Jeep Compass. The price of the new Kicks is expected to range between R$ 150,000 and R$ 180,000.
With these changes, both the Tracker and Kicks promise to shake up the Brazilian compact SUV market. The debuts are expected to happen in the first half of 2024, marking a new phase for two of the best-selling models in the country.
