Recently, the National Indian Foundation (FUNAI) announced its highly anticipated public exam, with the release of eight notices totaling 502 immediate positions. The purpose of the exam is to attract qualified professionals, providing inclusive opportunities for candidates with disabilities, indigenous people, and Black individuals. The positions cover a wide range of education levels, from high school to higher education, offering various career opportunities within the institution.

List of Open Positions in the FUNAI Public Exam 2024

The FUNAI exam offers opportunities in eight distinct blocks, covering various areas of expertise. Among them, positions for specialists in Indigenous Studies stand out in the areas of:

  • Social Assistance;
  • Social Communication;
  • Psychology;
  • Engineering;
  • Pedagogy;
  • Sociology;
  • Accounting;
  • Indigenous Studies;
  • Administration;
  • Library Science;
  • Statistics;
  • Forestry Engineering;
  • Archiving;
  • Agronomic Engineering;
  • Geography;
  • Economics;
  • Anthropology;
  • Architecture.

The Indigenous Studies specialist is responsible for promoting and safeguarding the legal rights of indigenous peoples in Brazil. Their goal is to ensure the protection and improve the quality of life of native populations. In this sense, in addition to working on the legal rights of indigenous people, they also work to maintain and protect the cultural and intellectual heritage of these communities.

Additionally, there are positions for Indigenous Studies technicians at the High School level. Among the various activities of the position are studying land demarcation and protection, studying land regularization, regulating and ensuring the sustainable use of indigenous lands, managing and implementing public policies focused on this community. They also promote actions aimed at protecting indigenous peoples on different fronts and supervise actions taken on indigenous lands.

Salary and Registration for the FUNAI Public Exam

The starting salaries for the public exam range from R$ 5,331.31 to R$ 7,697.02, potentially reaching up to R$ 8,577.82 for a workload of up to 40 hours per week.

This edition marks the debut of the Unified National Exam, an initiative of the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI). The new model allows the Federal Executive Branch to conduct a single general exam for the selection of professionals in various public agencies, significantly simplifying the admission process.

There will be 6,640 immediate positions filled across various entities, following the methodology of the National High School Exam (Enem), with the selection taking place simultaneously in about 180 cities.

Learn About the Last FUNAI Exam

With 32,256 applicants, the last FUNAI public exam took place in 2016, offering 220 positions for higher-level positions.

At that time, the ESAF served as the organizing body for the exam. Positions were opened for accountants, agronomists, and specialized indigenists. According to information released by FUNAI itself, in the 2016 exam, 360 candidates were appointed, with 155 not taking office and 9 resigning after exercising in the position.

It is worth mentioning that FUNAI is an institution aimed at protecting and promoting the rights of indigenous peoples, with actions in ethnodevelopment, conservation, and environmental recovery. It is the responsibility of FUNAI to promote studies of identification and delimitation, demarcation, land regularization, and registration of lands traditionally occupied by indigenous peoples, as well as to monitor and supervise indigenous lands.
