New Honda Sedan Revolutionizes The Automotive Market In India: Honda Amaze Arrives As An Affordable Option, Costing Less Than R$ 60 Thousand And Impressing With Performance And Highlights!
In the Indian market, there is a segment of sedans below the compact ones we have here. Thus, in addition to the City, there is also the Honda Amaze, Honda’s budget car that is arriving in its third generation in the automotive industry to compete with models like the Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor. Check out the main details about Honda’s sedan.
Design Of The Honda Car In India Generates Controversy
Although the Honda Amaze still strictly follows the fundamentals of the previous generation, the third generation Amaze gets a new external and internal look to remain relevant within the Indian automotive industry.
The style, however, may be a bit controversial for Brazilians. It is evident that it uses elements from the City and the SUV Elevate (which will be sold in Brazil as the WR-V), however, it seems that the brand ended up developing a clone very similar to the Fiat Fastback, a coincidence given that Fiat’s coupe SUV is not sold there.

Honda launches ‘premium Kombi’ with 7 seats cheaper than Jeep Commander, Toyota SW4, and Chevrolet Trailblazer in Brazil; for about R$ 87,000 in conversion without taxes, the Honda Freed has a 1.5 engine, hybrid option and e:HEV, CVT transmission, Honda Sensing, sliding doors, and a family package that Brazilians don’t have yet, but Japan does.

Without a windshield, without license plates, without headlights, and with the door tied with a rope, a truck was seized by the PRF on BR-316 using a drum as a fuel tank inside the cabin while transporting firewood in Pernambuco, and even the driver didn’t have a driver’s license.

Suzuki sells an “economical family minivan” with 7 seats cheaper than Chevrolet Spin, Citroën Aircross, and Caoa Chery Tiggo 8 in Brazil; for about R$ 47,000 in conversion without taxes, the Ertiga has a 1.5 engine, manual or automatic transmission, CNG option, a trunk of up to 803 liters, and a family package that Brazil doesn’t have, but India does.
However, this is a concern only for Brazilians, as what really became controversial in the design of Honda’s budget car was the difference between the concept and the production version in the Indian automotive industry. The initial images showed a much bolder look, with larger taillights and headlights, in addition to a lower profile more consistent with a sedan.
However, what we see is a front end very similar to the Elevate, an SUV that is also based on the City, and a taller car, almost a crossover or coupe SUV.
As a result, some proportions may even seem a bit strange on Honda’s car, something that was mitigated in the pre-production design but is common to the second generation model. The 15-inch wheels, for example, seem too small for the car.
Interior Of The New Honda Amaze Gains Highlights
Inside, the redesign of Honda’s car in the Indian automotive industry is quite significant compared to the second generation, but it is not unprecedented. The entire set is identical to that of the Elevate, including the 7-inch digital instrument cluster, the steering wheel, and the entire dashboard and central console. The only exception is the multimedia center, which in Honda’s sedan has an 8-inch screen, instead of the 10.25-inch screen of the SUV.
Despite being less than 4 m long, the trunk space of Honda’s budget car is good. The Honda Amaze has 416 liters in the trunk, 4 L less than the second generation. The length of under 4 m is convenient to ensure that you will pay less in taxes.
Honda Sedan Delivers Up To 90 Hp Of Power
In terms of powertrain, there were no significant changes. Thus, Honda’s car is still equipped with the same 1.2 gasoline engine producing 90 hp and 11.21 kgfm, which can be mated to a five-speed manual transmission or to a CVT, but only for the top-of-the-line model.
There is a lack of an option with CNG, a type of fuel well-accepted in India and available in competitors. The platform is the same as before, also shared with the City and Elevate. Speaking of which, the more expensive model will be named ZX and will be the only one with the Honda Sensing package available.
With it, Honda’s sedan gains several driver assistance features, such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist, making the sedan the most affordable car with ADAS features. It is worth mentioning that Honda’s budget car has initial prices starting at R$ 56,752.
