Drivers of the Federal District Had Their Driving Rights Suspended After Consolidated Administrative Decisions, and Detran-DF Published a List With More Than 1,500 Names That Are Temporarily Prohibited From Driving Vehicles.
The Department of Transit of the Federal District (Detran-DF) published a list with more than 1,500 drivers who had their driving rights suspended after a final administrative decision.
The measure, formalized by Instruction No. 1,505, dated November 7, 2025, applies suspension periods ranging from two months to two years, depending on the severity of the violations and the history of each driver.
According to the agency, the disclosure only occurs after the conclusion of all defense stages in the administrative sphere. This indicates that the decisions were consolidated within Detran-DF’s internal process.

Who is Prohibited From Driving According to Detran-DF
The list includes drivers penalized for violations classified as serious and very serious.
Official documents and information released by specialized portals indicate that there are drivers fined for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding speed limits, and performing maneuvers in violation of safety standards set forth in the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB).
Motorcyclists caught without helmets or transporting children under 10 years old irregularly are also listed.
There are also drivers who committed prohibited overtaking. These violations have specific classifications in the CTB and can result in suspension of driving rights.
For all names included in the normative instruction, the penalty is already in effect. During this period, the driver cannot operate any motor vehicle.
How the Suspension of More Than 1,500 CNHs Occurred
The normative instruction was published in the Official Journal of the Federal District and encompasses processes concluded after administrative analysis.
Detran-DF explains that drivers were notified beforehand, even by correspondence sent in recent months, with a timeline for presenting defenses and appeals.
This stage precedes the inclusion of names in the final list.
Administrative suspension can occur concurrently with criminal analysis when there are indications of traffic crimes, as provided for in Brazilian law.
Violations That Most Result in Suspension of the CNH
The recorded situations follow the pattern identified by road safety specialists, who point to a concentration of suspensions in violations with high risk potential.
Among the most common are driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, significantly exceeding speed limits.
Riding a motorcycle without a helmet. Transporting children in irregular conditions. Performing prohibited overtaking.
These actions are classified as serious or very serious by the CTB.
They can generate fines, accumulation of points, and initiation of suspension processes, and recidivism increases the likelihood of penalties.
Consequences of Driving With a Suspended CNH
Driving with suspended driving rights results in two consequences provided for in the legislation.
The first is a fine of R$ 880.41. The second is the immediate initiation of a process for revocation of the National Driver’s License.
Detran-DF emphasizes that if the revocation is concluded, the driver loses their license and can only initiate a new process after fulfilling two years of prohibition.
After this period, they must go through all the necessary steps for those seeking their first license.
Depending on the situation, the driver may also face criminal charges, especially in cases involving bodily injury or death.
Situations That Can Lead to Permanent Revocation of the CNH
Revocation is the strictest penalty related to driving rights under the CTB. It is applied in three main situations.
When the driver is caught driving during a suspension period. When there is recidivism within 12 months of specific very serious violations provided for by law.
When there is a judicial conviction for a traffic crime, allowing the judge to determine the revocation.
In any of these situations, the driver is prohibited from obtaining a new license for two years.
After this period, they must complete the entire training process, such as medical examinations, classes, and tests.
How to Check If Your Name Is on the Detran-DF List
To verify individual status, Detran-DF advises drivers to consult the agency’s official channels.
The list published in the Official Journal can also be checked on the department’s digital platforms. These tools allow tracking points, notifications, and administrative processes.
Experts recommend that the review of the record be conducted periodically to avoid surprises regarding suspension or risk of revocation.
