Together with its partner, the US Occidental Petroleum, highlight that this new reserve will provide great potential to the region
Ecopetrol, state-controlled, made a discovery of light oil in northern Colombia. The Cosecha C-01 well was drilled in partnership with the US Occidental Petroleum to a total depth of 3300 meters. The duo aimed for a Cretaceous prospect in the Llanos basin and found a thickness of about 14 meters, Ecopetrol said. The well is currently producing crude oil of 38 degrees API at a rate of 3025 barrels per day.
The Cosecha C-01 is located near the Cano-Limon complex, which will help facilitate its future development, said Ecopetrol’s president, Felipe Bayon.
The company is also active in the Rondon, Chipiron, and Cravo Norte prospects in the block, and Ecopetrol said that the Cosecha discovery highlights the region’s potential.
