Jobs In Sight In Itaboraí, In The Metropolitan Region Of Rio De Janeiro. The Construction Works Of Rota 3, The Gas Pipeline That Will Transport The Natural Gas That Will Be Produced In The Pre-Salt Fields In The Campos Basin To Comperj, Have Already Commenced. Petrobras Is Considering Consolidating All The Pre-Salt Maritime Pipelines Into A Single Company And Then Privatizing It Through An Initial Public Offering.

On August 28, 2019, Petrobras And MIP Engenharia Concluded An Important Milestone Of The Project, With The Assembly Of The Flare Tower. The Tower, Which Is 156 Meters Tall And Weighs 424 Tons, Comprises The Safety System For Burning The Residual Gas From Activities.

According To Petrobras, The Rota 3 Project, Which Also Includes The Construction Of The Natural Gas Processing Unit (UPGN) At Comperj, Currently Employs About 5,000 Workers, Almost All From Surrounding Municipalities. At Least Another 2,500 Jobs Are Expected To Be Generated By Next Year.

Both The UPGN And The Gas Pipeline Are Scheduled To Be Completed In 2021, Although There Are Predictions That They Will Be Finished As Early As 2020, When They Will Reach A Peak Of 7,500 Workers.

The Region Of Itaboraí And Nearby Municipalities Have Been Hard Hit In Recent Years By The Halt Of Comperj’s Works Since 2014, When Contracts Were Involved In The Corruption Scheme Revealed By Operation Lava Jato.

Petrobras Explained That The New Hires Are The Responsibility Of The Companies In Charge Of The Construction And Assembly Of The Project. The Expectation Is That More Positions Will Be Opened By The End Of The Year For Helpers, Heavy Machinery Operators, Truck Drivers, Welders, And Electricians, Among Others.

This Integrated Rota 3 Project Will Represent A Third Route For The Flow Of Natural Gas From The Pre-Salt, And Its Completion Is Essential To Transport The Natural Gas That Will Be Produced Starting In 2021 In The Pre-Salt Fields In The Santos Basin.

The Rota 3 Project Consists Of The Natural Gas Processing Unit (UPGN), Which Will Process The Gas, And Is Under Construction At Comperj. The UPGN Will Have The Capacity To Process Up To 21 Million Cubic Meters Per Day.
