The government of Estremadura, an autonomous region in Spain, is about to launch a revolutionary initiative that seeks to revitalize its rural areas by offering financial aid for qualified professionals who want to live and work there.

How does the incentive program work?
The government's proposal to Estremadura stands out for offering two incentive bands to help new residents settle in the region.
According to a the Sexpe (Extremadura Employment Service), the body responsible for implementing the program, the chosen professionals must reside in the region for at least two years.
The total value can reach up to 15 thousand euros (around R$ 93 thousand), depending on the length of stay and the applicant's conditions.
Financial aid is distributed as follows:
- 10 thousand euros (approximately R$62,3 thousand) for women, people under 30 years old or those who choose to live in cities with less than 5 thousand inhabitants.
- 5 thousand additional euros (approximately R$31,1 thousand) for those who remain for another year after the end of the initial period.
For those who do not fit into the above categories, the initial value is 8 thousand euros (approximately R$ 49,8 thousand), with an additional 4 thousand euros (approximately R$ 24,9 thousand) for those who decide to extend their stay for another year.
This strategy was designed precisely to strengthen rural areas and reduce population decline.
Who can apply for a teleworking visa?
In addition to financial incentives, interested parties must meet some important requirements to qualify for a teleworking visa in Spain.
According to information from the Spanish government, the visa is aimed at both self-employed professionals and employees hired by companies outside Spain.
To apply for a teleworking visa, you must:
- Prove an income of more than 2.646 euros per month (approximately R$16,4).
- Present a university degree or at least three years of proven professional experience.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform professional activities remotely.
- Obtain a residence permit in Spain.
Additionally, the visa can be extended to the professional's family, as long as the applicant's income is sufficient to cover the additional requirements of each dependent.
