A Tesla Model 3 Driver Reveals The Condition Of The Battery And The Repairs Required After Driving 250 Thousand Km In Five Years With The Elon Musk’s Brand Vehicle
The durability of electric vehicle batteries is a common concern among consumers. Lawrence, owner of a Tesla Model 3 from September 2018, drove approximately 250 thousand km in five years and shared his experience on the YouTube channel ‘Tesla Joy’. He reported a loss of 8% to 10% of battery capacity, with the Tesla Tessie app indicating a degradation of about 11%. Lawrence expected better performance from newer models but concluded that the capacity loss is comparable, according to the site Br.ign.
Due to the unavailability of slow charging, Lawrence frequently used the supercharging feature, which, according to him, did not show a significant difference in battery degradation compared to using slow charging.
Limited Repairs And Maintenance
Over the five years, Lawrence performed little maintenance on the vehicle until reaching 233 thousand km. The main repairs included replacing the charging plug for 600 dollars, replacing the 12-volt battery for about 125 dollars, and replacing the upper control arms due to squeaking, totaling approximately one thousand dollars.
