The New Phase of Itaminas Is Marked by a Powerful Combination of Technological Innovation and Environmental Commitment, Driving Sustainability in Mining

The Itaminas is about to inaugurate a new era in its operations, with investments of R$ 1.5 billion by 2033. This investment focuses on the modernization of activities, increasing production, and delivering high-quality iron ore, essential for the decarbonization of the steel industry. The presentation of this new phase will take place at the “New Times” event, in Sarzedo (MG), on December 16, according to the brasilmineral website.

New Management and Sustainable Vision

Under the leadership of Thiago Toscano, the new management of Itaminas aims to align technological advancement with environmental responsibility, contributing to global decarbonization goals. Alongside the president are Argeu de Lima Géo Filho as Vice President of Operations and Rodrigo Medrado Géo as Vice President of Finance. These leaders aim to elevate the iron ore content from 62.5% to 67%, positioning Itaminas as a strategic partner in the European and Asian markets.

Integrity Program and Commitment to the Community

In addition to investments in infrastructure, Itaminas will present its Integrity Program, managed by the Compliance department, aimed at promoting ethics and compliance in all operations. This program reinforces the company’s commitment to the local community, allocating R$ 9 million for the expansion of public areas in Parque Cachoeira de Sarzedo and R$ 7.8 million for maintenance. With about 85% of its employees residing in Sarzedo, Itaminas stands out as an economic and social pillar in the region, generating over 700 direct jobs and nearly 2,000 indirect jobs.

Logistical Expansion and Economic Impact

The new phase of Itaminas also includes the construction of a logistics terminal in Sarzedo, expected to be completed by 2029, with a capacity to handle 20 million tons of ore annually. This project will not only consolidate Itaminas as a logistical hub in the region but will also offer infrastructure for other mining companies, generating jobs and income during its construction.

Contribution to the Mining Sector in Minas Gerais

The planned investments by Itaminas symbolize a milestone in the mining sector in Minas Gerais, highlighting the importance of innovation and sustainability. Focusing on the decarbonization of the steel industry, the company reaffirms its commitment to integrating more sustainable and efficient practices, strengthening its position in the global iron ore market.

With these initiatives, Itaminas not only reinforces its market presence but also commits to sustainable development and the economic advancement of the region, promising a prosperous and innovative future for mining.
