Fiat Prepares to Launch a New Affordable Car Promising to Be One of the Brand’s Most Accessible and to Compete Directly with the Kwid in Sales.
For car enthusiasts, the news is exciting: Fiat, the renowned Italian automaker, is about to launch a new affordable car in Brazil. The goal is to replace the acclaimed Mobi and directly compete with the Kwid, both sales leaders in the national market in recent years. According to press reports, Fiat plans to produce a compact and affordable vehicle aimed at consumers looking for economical options to acquire a new car.
New Fiat Car Receives Project Name F1H
It is worth noting that the cheapest model in the country is the Renault Kwid, which is being sold in the market for around R$ 68,190. However, it is still early to talk about prices for this new affordable car from Fiat; nevertheless, it is already known that the model will be produced at the Betim factory in the state of Minas Gerais, according to the Terra portal.
Known by the codename F1H, the model will be based on a platform derived from the CMP – from the Peugeot 208 and Citroën C3. Confirmation was made by a Stellantis executive to Automotive Business.

According to him, there will be a new investment cycle at the Betim factory. The amount of the investment has not yet been revealed. According to the source, this platform was inherited to develop the new Fiat car, which will be produced in Minas Gerais.
Moreover, according to media reports, the suspicion surrounding the codename F1H for the project follows the pattern used by Fiat in the past. After all, before being named in Brazil, the Mobi was known internally at Fiat as project X1H.
New Affordable Fiat Car May Hit the Market in 2026
The new affordable car might retire the Argo and Mobi, as the duo approaches the end of their vehicle life cycle. Although not much data has been released about this affordable car, much less about its official launch date, it is possible that the model will arrive at Fiat dealerships in about two years.
After all, Stellantis has promised to make 16 launches by 2025 in Latin America. Just like other undisclosed data, it is also unknown whether the new Fiat car will be a compact SUV, sedan, or hatch.
Thus, unless something unprecedented arises, it is possible that the brand’s next bet will be named New Uno, but with innovative features, such as a mild hybrid system. In any case, the design of the new model is expected to be inspired by the Centoventi concept car. In fact, the global CEO of the automaker, Olivier François, has already stated that the brand will have a unique product based on the model.
Fiat Mobi Sales in Brazil
Currently in the 2024 lineup, the Fiat Mobi has already been present in the Brazilian market for 7 years. To this day, the subcompact remains the cheapest 0 km popular car in Brazil, being the only one with prices starting from under R$ 70 thousand. In 2022, the model reached 400,000 units produced in Betim since its launch in 2016.
Marketed in 12 other countries besides Brazil, the small hatchback emerged as a smaller option to the Uno and reached 5th place in the national sales ranking, ranking third between April and March 2022. At the time of its launch, the model offered versions Easy, Easy On, Like, Like On, Way, and Way On, with the last two having higher ground clearance.
