Sighting in India Anticipates Design, Dimensions, and Global Strategy of the New Renault SUV, Which Will Serve as the Basis for the Nissan Model and Is Under Review for Other Markets, Including Brazil, Where the Duster Remains in Line.
A new sighting made in India indicates that the next generation of the Renault Duster is close to its official presentation.
The images, released by local media, show a still-camouflaged prototype but already allow for the identification of changes in the exterior design, such as the adoption of a LED bar connecting the rear lights and a set of alloy wheels with a new design.
According to a report published by the newspaper Motor1, the launch of the SUV in the Indian market is scheduled for January 26, a date that has been anticipated by Renault in recent communications in the country.

How GMC decided to create a cheaper “mini Hummer” after the failure of giant electric vehicles and revealed radical SUVs that promise to take on the Bronco and Wrangler with a brutal look, futuristic technology, and off-road capability in the USA.
The vehicle had already appeared in teasers released at the end of last year, reinforcing that the project is in the final stages of preparation.
The model is being treated by the automaker as a central part of its strategy for India, a market that concentrates high volumes and strong competition among global manufacturers and local brands.
According to Motor1’s investigation, Renault considers the new Duster one of the pillars of its upcoming regional offensive, alongside other SUVs developed on more recent platforms of the alliance.
Design of the New Renault Duster 2026 Highlights Rear with LED Bar

The latest records suggest that the rear will be one of the main points of differentiation for the Indian Duster.
The presence of a light strip connecting the taillights had already been anticipated in official material and reappears clearly in the sightings, even with the camouflage applied to the bodywork, as Motor1 noted while analyzing the images released in India.
On the side, the alterations seem to be more discreet.
Elements already associated with the model remain, such as plastic appliqués on the wheel arches and the rear door handles integrated into the pillar, a solution adopted to soften the profile design.
The wheels, on the other hand, have a different look than those used on the current generation, signaling a stylistic update compared to the Duster currently sold in various markets.
Other external details cannot yet be confirmed with precision.
The camouflage covers the bumpers, grille, and front optics, which prevents a complete reading of the final look.

So far, Renault has not released official images of the car without disguises, limiting the information to what can be observed during street tests.
SUV Dimensions and 472-Liter Trunk Position the Model in the Compact Segment
The dimensions attributed to the new Duster have already been disclosed in other markets and are expected to be maintained in the Indian configuration.
The SUV has 4,343 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, 1,656 mm in height, and 2,657 mm in wheelbase, positioning it in the compact SUV segment.
The announced trunk space is 472 liters, a capacity that remains one of the characteristics associated with the project.
As previously highlighted by Motor1 in earlier reports, these numbers help explain the positioning of the model between smaller SUVs and medium-sized options.

The final specifications, however, may vary according to the version and mechanical set offered locally.
New Duster Integrates Renault’s Global Plan and Will Give Rise to the Nissan Tekton
In India, the return of the Duster is part of a broader plan by Renault to increase its market share locally.
The automaker has communicated that it intends to focus its upcoming launches on SUVs developed on the CMF-B platform, within a global program aimed at emerging markets.
This movement also involves Nissan.
The Duster project will give rise to an equivalent model from the Japanese brand, officially announced under the name Tekton.
Both are expected to be produced at the alliance’s plant near Chennai, focusing on both the Indian market and exports to other regions, as noted by Motor1 when discussing the industrial plans of the two brands.
Information previously disclosed by the companies themselves indicates that this family of SUVs is expected to grow.

There are plans for derivatives with seven seats starting in 2027, using the same structural base, as part of the joint strategy of Renault and Nissan.
Duster in Brazil Remains in the Portfolio, but New Generation Has No Set Launch Date
Although the sighting occurred in India, the subject generates interest in Brazil because the Duster remains in Renault’s portfolio in the country.
Currently, the model sold here is still based on the previous generation of the project and occupies an intermediate position in the brand’s SUV lineup.
In an interview with Motor1, Ariel Montenegro, CEO of Renault-Geely Brazil, stated that the Duster will continue to be offered in the national market even after the arrival of the Boreal, which has taken the place of the brand’s most expensive and refined SUV.
According to the executive, the name Duster will not be discontinued, although there is still no public definition about when a new generation will be launched in Brazil.
So far, Renault has not confirmed whether the specific design developed for India will be adopted in Brazil or in other Latin American markets.
The maintenance of the model in the national lineup, however, indicates that the Duster remains included in the manufacturer’s future plans.
With the Indian debut already scheduled and the project serving as the basis for Nissan, how should Renault align the evolution of the Duster in Brazil with what is being prepared for other markets?
