Nexway Has R$ 53.5 Million Invested in 70 Energy Efficiency Projects. In Brazil, the Market Has the Potential to Move Over R$ 20 Billion
The subsidiary of the Comerc Energia group, Nexway Eficiência, will receive a billion-dollar investment from the infrastructure fund managed by Perfin, Perfin Mercury. The goal is to invest in energy efficiency projects in Brazil over the next few years, based on a model in which Nexway invests in technologies to reduce energy consumption, and after the solution is applied, the client pays a monthly amount based on the savings achieved.

The world has bet on green hydrogen as the fuel of the future, but now faces the side effect: producing 1 kilogram requires about 9 liters of ultrapure water, and the largest projects on the planet are precisely in the driest regions of the Earth, where water is already scarce for people.
According to the founding partner of Perfin, Ralph Gustavo Rosenberg, who is responsible for management and is an expert in the energy and infrastructure sectors, if there is no significant change in mindset and nothing is done to improve energy efficiency in Brazil, costs will become unmanageable for industries to operate. Business owners will need to hire companies like Nexway to conduct an analysis of their energy efficiency – replacing air compressors, changing motors, refrigeration systems, boilers, among others.

Marcel Haratz, CEO of Nexway Eficiência, emphasizes that companies achieve better cost-effectiveness by adopting energy efficiency solutions, projects that can even serve as a way to increase competitiveness and a pathway out of this crisis.
Projects for Energy Efficiency by Perfin and Nexway
Perfin and Comerc are already partners in other business fronts and should jointly explore this opportunity, as the energy efficiency market has the potential to move over R$ 20 billion in Brazil, but is still underdeveloped.
In Brazil, energy waste is a reality with significant economic impacts. According to the Federal Government, it is estimated that if nothing is done to improve energy efficiency in Brazil, by 2029 we could have a waste of 30,000 GWh per year just in industry and commerce, which represents more than 37% of all generation from Itaipu in 2019. According to projections from the Brazilian Association of Energy Conservation Service Companies (ABESCO), with energy efficiency projects, the industry has the potential to save R$ 4 billion per year, while the retail sector’s estimate is R$ 2.4 billion.
In addition to financial savings, energy efficiency also brings gains for sustainability. Due to energy efficiency projects implemented by Nexway until 2020, over 13,000 tons of CO2 were prevented from being released into the atmosphere.
