Advantages of Working Embarked in the Offshore Sector
Choosing an offshore position and working embarked on platforms or support vessels, such as those of Grupo CBO, can bring various professional and financial benefits. One of the main attractions is the above-average compensation compared to similar positions onshore, as the work requires technical qualifications, specific certifications, and willingness to work under different conditions.
Another positive point is the rotating shift schedule, such as the 14×14 (14 days on board and 14 days off), which allows for long periods of rest and greater flexibility to combine personal commitments, travel, or studies. During the time on board, the professional benefits from meals, accommodation, and basic infrastructure covered by the company, significantly reducing personal costs.
Additionally, embarked experience is highly valued in the energy, oil, and gas sector, opening doors for promotions and opportunities in large companies, including international ones. It is also a chance to develop technical and behavioral skills in demanding environments, such as leadership, decision-making under pressure, and teamwork.
Disadvantages and Challenges of the Offshore Environment
On the other hand, working embarked presents challenges that not everyone is willing to face. The distance from family and urban routine is one of the main difficulties, especially for those with young children or who rely on a more stable routine on solid ground. Prolonged living in confined environments requires emotional balance and respect for collective living rules.
Adverse weather conditions, isolation, and the intense work pace can also affect physical and mental well-being. Therefore, it is essential to be psychologically prepared and in good health to endure long periods at sea.
Despite the challenges, many professionals see the offshore sector as a concrete opportunity for growth, stability, and career development.
