The New Flex Hybrid Pickup From Great Wall Motors, The GWM Poer, Promises to Shake the Reign of the Hilux and Ranger When It Debuts in Brazil
The arrival of the GWM Poer in the Brazilian market is surrounded by expectations, especially among those closely following the midsize pickup segment. Even with the delay in launch, which is now set to happen between late 2025 and early 2026, this flex hybrid is already born with the mission of disturbing the veteran Hilux and Ranger. Great Wall Motors’ idea is to bet on a complete package of technology, strength, and striking design to shake up the scene and, who knows, destabilize the leaders.
Delayed Launch of the GWM Pickup, But Certain
The GWM Poer had its launch postponed, but all indications are that it will leave the factory in Iracemápolis (SP) by the end of 2025 or early 2026. It is a delay that only increases curiosity and pressure on the Chinese brand.
The Poer is already a reality in the neighboring country, and the versions sold there (2WD, 4WD, and luxury with automatic transmission) may serve as a basis for the Brazilian market. Thus, GWM plans to offer options to please everyone from the most basic to the most demanding audiences.

Billion-Dollar Investment in Brazil
The arrival of the GWM Poer is part of a R$ 10 billion investment in Brazil by 2032. By 2026 alone, R$ 4 billion will be invested in the operation, showing that the automaker is serious about challenging the Hilux and Ranger.
Following the same construction philosophy as the Hilux and Ranger, GWM bets on a chassis over rails, ensuring robustness and durability. This solid base is ideal for tackling tough terrains and heavy tasks.
Powerful GWM Flex Hybrid Set
The expectation is that the GWM Poer will feature a 2.0 turbo gasoline engine combined with powerful electric motors. The combination can reach 408 hp, making the pickup ready to face the market leaders without fear.
Measuring about 5.41 m in length, 1.93 m in width, 1.88 m in height, and with a wheelbase of 3.23 m, the GWM Poer is firmly entering the midsize club. It can still carry 1 ton in the bed and tow up to 3.5 tons, wanting direct competition with Hilux and Ranger.
Equipment and Technology
Leather seats, electric adjustments, a panoramic roof, a multimedia system with a 9” screen, and 360° cameras are among the expected items for the national version of the GWM Poer. It’s the type of comfort and modernity that can make many owners of Hilux and Ranger take a second look.
The front of the GWM Poer grabs attention: an imposing chrome grille, a high hood, and defined creases. The LED signature and the stylized “P” logo reinforce its bold character, a calling card to disturb the leaders.
National Production Only in 2025
Despite the delay in the original schedule, the production of the GWM Poer in Brazil is expected in the last quarter of 2025. Until then, curiosity is only increasing and the tension in the segment as well.
With the BYD Shark positioned at around R$ 379 thousand, it is likely that the GWM Poer will arrive costing between R$ 350 thousand and R$ 380 thousand. It is a price that, combined with the technological and flex hybrid package, promises to try to steal the spotlight from Hilux and Ranger.
