Harley-Davidson Bets on the Sprint, Small and Affordable Motorcycle Priced at US$ 6 Thousand, to Recapture Beginners and Young Motorcyclists in the Global Market
Harley-Davidson wants to become an accessible brand again. For years, it was stuck with the image of heavy and expensive motorcycles, aimed at a restricted audience. Now, it’s pursuing a different path. Its new bet is named: Sprint. A small, simple motorcycle with an estimated price of US$ 6 thousand, equivalent to R$ 32.5 thousand. The launch is scheduled for 2026.
The Challenge of Harley-Davidson
The most important thing is that Harley recognizes the need for change. In Milwaukee, there is a perception that insisting solely on high-displacement models leads to a commercial deadlock.
Kolja Rebstock, vice president of international markets, was straightforward: “We lost volume when we stopped selling the Sportsters. The challenge is clear: how to launch small motorcycles that offer benefits and attract new motorcyclists?”.

Therefore, the Sprint arrives with the mission of occupying this empty space and reopening the doors for beginners and young people interested in an American-identity motorcycle.
Rescue of the Past
The choice of the name is no coincidence. In the 1960s, Harley produced the Sprint in partnership with Italian Aermacchi. They were light and competitive motorcycles that shone on dirt tracks.
The new version will not be a copy of the Street 750, a failure from a decade ago. The idea is a completely new project, but with the same sporty soul of yesteryear.
Moreover, if the plan works, Harley intends to replicate this success, not in local races, but in dealership sales worldwide.
Production Strategy
There are currently no official technical data. It is also unclear where the motorcycle will be manufactured. But all indications suggest it will follow the recipe used for the X350 and X500, produced in Asia.
The production may occur in Thailand or even in collaboration with a Chinese manufacturer. The goal is to reduce costs and facilitate access. Because the target audience would hardly pay a premium for a traditional Harley.
Additionally, the brand is already testing this formula in India, in partnership with Hero MotoCorp, with the X440. The model paved the way for the global strategy.
Image Rejuvenation
The change is not limited to a single launch. Harley has already taken risks with the Pan America 1250, entering the adventure segment.
It is also preparing its presence behind the scenes in MotoGP, with competition equipment starting in 2026.
The Sprint, therefore, symbolizes the first step of a turnaround. A Harley designed for everyone. It remains to be seen if, this time, it will succeed.
