Iconic Chevrolet Model Disappeared From GM Site, Ending An Era Of Success In Brazil! What Led To Its Discontinuation And What Is The Future Of Its Successor?
The Chevrolet Cruze, one of the most admired midsize sedans in the Brazilian market, finally ends its journey after years of success.
This news may surprise fans, especially since the last time we saw the model on display was on the Chevrolet website. But what led the brand to make such a drastic decision? The answer may be more complex than you imagine.
The model had its production halted at the end of 2023, with manufacturing at the Santa Fé plant in Argentina. The strategy to keep the model available on the Chevrolet website in Brazil aimed to clear out the remaining stock, ensuring that the last vehicles were sold before their definitive exit from the market.

However, this week, the sedan and the Sport6 hatchback, both with the 1.4 Turbo engine, were removed from the GM site, marking the end of an era for these models.

Decision That Follows The Trend
The decision to discontinue the Cruze is not a surprise for those who follow the automotive market. The sales performance of the sedan and the Sport6 hatch in 2024 was modest.
Up until July, the Cruze had only 745 units registered, while the Sport6 reached just 177 registrations. These numbers reflect a significant decline compared to previous years.
The Chosen One By Chevrolet
Chevrolet, on its part, already has a plan to replace the Cruze at the Santa Fé factory. With the discontinuation of the Cruze, the plant’s production capacity will be redirected to the manufacture of the Tracker, a compact SUV that began production in Argentina in mid-2022.
This change will not only meet the growing demand for SUVs but also allow Chevrolet to optimize its production line.
The departure of the Cruze from the Brazilian market marks the end of an era for a model that, for years, was one of the favorites among consumers.
With the arrival of the Tracker, Chevrolet is betting on a future more aligned with current automotive market trends, where SUVs dominate consumer preferences.
