ABS Granted Approval for Hyundai to Produce Floating Production Storage and Offloading Units (FPSOs)
Initially planned for operations in West Africa, Hyundai recommended that the standardized topside design of its FPSOs is adaptable to a range of conditions, potentially offering reduced costs and shorter project timelines. Luiz Feijó, Director of ABS Global Offshore, said: “We worked closely with Hyundai using our industry expertise to support the development of this innovative concept, which has the potential to streamline the project development lifecycle.”
Seon Mook Lim, senior vice president of Hyundai’s Offshore Division said: “In today’s market, Hyundai’s standardized topside design requested by our operators potentially provides more accessible capital or investment expenditures with shorter project timelines, reliability, and safer systems certified by ABS based on a rigorous evaluation process.
