The Federal Institute of Mato Grosso do Sul (IFMS) has opened a selection process for 1,665 spots in free subsequent technical courses, in the Distance Education format (semi-presential), with expected entry for the first semester of 2026.
The opportunities are for those who have already completed high school and wish to obtain a technical qualification in Administration, Logistics or IT Maintenance and Support, with a nationally valid diploma and mandatory weekly in-person meetings at the chosen center.
Free Technical Education in Three Areas
The three courses offered by IFMS are in the subsequent modality, aimed exclusively at candidates who have already finished high school or equivalent by the enrollment date in the chosen course.

Although classified as EAD courses, the offering is semi-presential.
The theoretical subjects primarily take place in a virtual learning environment, but the student must attend at least one in-person meeting per week, on the defined day and shift for each class.
In general, in-person classes occur in the evening, and in some municipalities, there are classes with meetings on Saturday mornings, as per the Pedagogical Projects of the courses and Annex I of the announcement.
The spots are distributed among campuses and centers in 17 municipalities in Mato Grosso do Sul, including Aquidauana, Campo Grande, Corumbá, Coxim, Dourados, Jardim, Naviraí, Nova Andradina, Ponta Porã, Nova Alvorada do Sul, Camapuã, São Gabriel do Oeste, Amambai, Maracaju, Três Lagoas, Antônio João, and Aral Moreira.
The number of spots, the course offered, and the day of the in-person meeting vary according to the unit and are detailed in the attachments of Announcement No. 084/2025 and at the IFMS Selection Center.
Participation Rules and Quotas
To participate in the selection process, the candidate must have completed high school or equivalent by the time of enrollment in the chosen course.
There is no age limit, and both graduates from public schools and private institutions can compete, as long as they meet the educational requirement established in the announcement.
IFMS adopts the Affirmative Action (quotas) system regulated by Law No. 12.711/2012 and complementary norms.
At least 50% of the spots in each course and unit are reserved for candidates who completed high school entirely in public schools or in partnered community schools that operate in rural education.
Within this percentage, there are specific sub-quotas for low-income candidates, self-declared black, brown, indigenous, quilombola individuals, and people with disabilities.
The announcement clarifies that anyone who completed any part of high school in a private school, even with a full or partial scholarship, cannot compete for the quotas and only competes for the available spots in the general selection.
All candidates, including quota candidates, initially compete on the general list, and the application of the reserved spots is made according to the ranking order and the criteria established in the document’s attachments.
Selection by Electronic Lottery
The admission process does not foresee a written exam or knowledge assessment.
The selection exclusively utilizes an electronic lottery, in which all candidates with approved registration participate.
The system randomly generates the ranking order of the applicants, ensuring transparency through a numeric seed that allows the lottery to be reproduced for auditing purposes.
The lottery will be held online and broadcast live on IFMS’s YouTube channel at 10 AM on the date specified in the schedule: January 8, 2026.
The participation number of each candidate will be disclosed in advance, along with the list of approved registrations.
If the total number of approved registrations for a particular course is less than the number of available spots, there will be no lottery.
All registrants are called for enrollment, ranked according to the general competition.
The institution may also waive the lottery when the number of candidates exceeds the number of spots by up to 10%.
Results, Enrollment, and Start of Classes
After the lottery, the preliminary result and then the final result will be published at the IFMS Selection Center, as per the schedule of Announcement No. 084/2025.
The final classification is expected on January 13, 2026.
Select candidates must complete the online enrollment between January 20 and February 2, 2026, submitting the required documentation as stated in the announcement.
The start of classes is expected to take place between March 16 and 21, 2026, according to the academic calendar of each campus or center.
Those who fail to meet the enrollment deadlines or do not provide proof of the conditions stated in the application will lose their spot, which will be passed on to the next candidates on the waiting list.
How to Enroll in IFMS EAD Technical Courses
Registrations are free and can only be made online through the Candidate Page at the IFMS Selection Center.
The deadline is until December 14, 2025, and each interested party must fill out the registration with their personal data, choose the campus or center offering the course, select the desired course and shift, and indicate whether they will participate in the general selection or the quota system.
